The Gods of Dream received a lovely review today at Geek Speak Magazine. Here are some highlights: "This is such a glorious story, I cannot even tell you.... There are larger themes to the book, themes of self-determination and sacrifice and faith and loyalty, optimism and redemption and courage and love -- but above all of that it is just a really great quest adventure.... It is an epic journey through an unknowable land, a smart allegory about life and death and everything in between, and a truly beautiful piece of work with emotional depth, tremendous heart and a more than occasional thrill of discovery." You can read the full review here. Thanks for reading! Daniel |

New review for The Gods of Dream on Amazon: "The cadence is right so it flows like a fairy tale even when it delves into some very harsh subjects. It's dark, it's entertaining and very well constructed. I enjoyed it for the same reasons I like Orson Scott Card's Hart's Hope and Neil Gaiman's Stardust...."

Thank you for this review, Grace! I'm glad you enjoyed the book. I'd like to mention a second new review for The Gods of Dream, which was also just posted today. Missy reviewed the novel on her blog, Missy's Reads & Reviews. She closed the review with, "a MUST READ for fantasy lovers. If you love Tolkien, you'll definitely want to give The Gods of Dream a try. I don't normally compare authors, but I have to make an exception in this case because it is THAT good!" Missy might be exaggerating a bit, but it's nice to read. Thanks again to everyone who's read and/or review the book! Daniel |

To answer your question: My four novels are standalones (not part of any series), so you can read them in any order you like. I wrote Firefly Island first; it has a traditional, fairytale feel. I wrote The Gods of Dream next. It's an epic fantasy. I was inspired by authors such as Tolkien, Lewis, Guy Gavriel Kay, and Neil Gaiman. Flaming Dove is about an outcast half-demon, half-angel. It mixes elements of dark fantasy, paranormal, and Gothic tragedy. Eye of the Wizard is lighter in tone. It's straightforward swords-and-sorcery, largely inspired by Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, and the other TSR paperbacks of the 1980s. If you choose to grab one, I thank you, and hope you enjoy it!
