You may have some time to make popcorn when Netflix and Amazon are gone...

Anyone willing to bet that this has a noticeable affect on iPad sales across the next two quarters?

Could be. But actually, I rip discs from Netflix & view them at my leisure. And yes, I delete them after I view them - from both my iPad & my computer. If I want to keep the movie, I buy the disc. It's the same with books - anything worth keeping I get in pbook.

What sharp business practices? You think they should run the App Store for free?

They allow free apps!

And this isnt any work for them nor costing them anything, apple have to do nothing currently for amazon to sell kindle books via kindle app.

It uses no apple servers, services or resources.

They then choose to force kindle users to buy via apples payment processing system! Note this is NOT the delivery of the actual book either, that still doesnt touch apples systems.

Would you want to pay microsoft for every web page you view in windows?

A great affect as most people will notice it. Do you really think that companies will want to keep on creating apple apps if this keeps going on? The one big selling point for Apple was the amount of apps, and if there will be less and less quality apps and only those free, useless or add-ridden apps remain, do you really think people will want to pay top dollar if they can get a similar device, but cheaper with the same apps on the Android platform (or even Win7 Mobile)?

There will still be plenty of good apps on the apple store, but it does seem likely that they will force out a lot of the free apps that are linked to an existing service and a lot of those will have actually been a big selling point for the device.

For me, it was the fact that the iPod touch is the only pocket computer available. I find the hardware lacking, but it's the only game in town. Pity that HTC and other phone makers don't make an Android version.

I'm rather annoyed because almost all of the big book sellers have iApps. Does this mean that if they concede we will all pay higher book fees? Apple doesn't even care about ebooks that much! But here they are, bullying themselves into the market - with the added benefit for the consumer of higher book fees.

Apple, go screw yourselves.
