We do give people a second chance. We just don't give them a one hundred and second chance, which is what this person got up to.

I have the miraculous ability to miss these conflicts. I don't visit the forums for a few weeks and something always happens. That's why I'm here every day now, although I have a lot to study. I just don't know what I'll find on my return if I leave for 2 months. The number 404 springs into my mind.

Harry, it does seem so sad doesn't it?

I hope that he doesn't do anything 'silly', as the tone of his letter was fairly depressed.

Cheers

Today the weather was great, very sunny. One of our cats thought it's spring already, Lexie is a cat that mostly sleeps during the day and is active at night. In spring, however, she wakes up and get active during the day.

This morning she spent in our store (there's a catflap between the livingroom and the stairs so both cats can come and go as they please). We finally figured that she wanted us to open the window to the overgrown (court)yard. She wasn't happy when she realised it wasn't going to happen (6 degrees outside), playing the drama queen in front of the shopdoor. Until the vet came to get some lamps, she fled upstairs and found a sunny spot on the couch.

She *recognized* him as the vet? Wow, that's pretty intelligent!

Yes, both our cats recognise him by voice it seems. A while back Nikita was sitting on the counter and he said "hello cat" to her and she started hissing and growling and fled upstairs. I had to explain to the other customers he is our vet.

It is a shame (I personally got along with him fairly well, that I know of anyway) but as others have stated in the past, this is probably not the place to work on people skills.

I don't know what he said the numerous times he was warned and/or banned by the mods (and I don't need to know) but my understanding is that he offended some sensibilities to the point where some people felt this wasn't an appropriate place for him to practice fitting in. He got close with me a couple times via Shel but I/we got over it.

Although what happened, happened.....and it was just about the time I started posting in the lounge; so I don't know how bad it was
.........it makes me very sad to read a thing like this
............it's real people with real feelings; on both sides; I realize that
.......I've also been known to be very undiplomatic and glad when people forgave me.

It's estimated that more than 90% of our inter-personal communication is non-verbal. All those small body language actions that convey so accurately our real meanings don't come across so well in print. We are lucky that in this forum we do have quite a variety of smilies to help us, but they still often fall short. Do we have one for a slightly raised eyebrow or maybe a tongue in cheek?

For someone with limited interpersonal communication skills to be further handicapped by loss of all body language... That can just be too big a bridge for some to try to cross successfully.

Can we not behave as a *family* and as such, forgive a recalcitrant, eccentric member, who cannot always be held responsible for their actions?

Maybe if his heathcare was such that he was able to have the medication that he should, but cannot, because his health insurance will not pay for it.

Personally, I have had more strife from some other members on MR, without
reasonable cause. Forgive and forget.

I would hate to think that 'recluse' feels that the major consensus here was that he leave....when it wasn't.

I miss his 'funnies' as there isn't a whole heck of a lot to laugh about these days.

Cheers
