I can for one fully appreciate the anxiety regarding most/all medical things. While I understand why there's the separation between the GP, nurses, testing-centres and such it's really, really unnerving waiting for your results to move through the whole assembly-line system, always worrying they'll lose your results or mix them up with someone else.

One thing that bothers me a lot more is that almost no GPs these days will go out on any sort of a speculation limb and give "their opinion" on what is happening, instead it's just as if they've been unfortunately demoted to being mere voices for the results of your tests. There's just no level of human comfort or reassurance in the system anymore (or so it feels).

(I know it has mostly gone this way due to the plethora of lawsuits and legal liabilities)

That's how it works here in most cases,they only call you if the test is positive (or negative). Of course that doesn't prevent you from sitting there wondering if you're really safe or if they just haven't gotten around to looking at the results yet

My HMO (Kaiser) posts lab results on line in my private area for most tests, if they're not there it's because there are some tests that need and explanation from my Primary Care Physician, or ordering specialist.

That being said, I’m reminded of a CT scan I had some years ago at an Army hospital to investigate a urinary tract problem. The Urologist called me up at suppertime, and said the Radiologist saw a 2 cm mass on my kidney, and that they would have to remove the kidney. Imagine getting a phone call at suppertime saying they were going to hack out my kidney!

I went down to the hospital, and saw the Urologist, and he ordered an ultrasound scan which turned out negative. No mass! Nadda! Perfectly healthy kidney! The Urologist said, "Oh, they must have seen a bowel loop." I was so pissed at the insensitivity of that Urologist that I never set foot in that Army hospital again.

Today I have Kaiser, and I can’t imagine my PCP treating her patients like that.

our office was broken into last night, my brand new monitor that I hook my laptop to was taken. all in all, 2 monitors, 2 computers, 2 laptops, a projector were taken along with a sense of security ;o(

AAiieeeee!! How horrible. This is an office separate from your home, I gather? I guess that's why the attack kitties & baby bear (dog) didn't get the thief. I hope the police can catch somebody!

All of our delivery people (U.S. Postal Service, Fed Ex, so far UPS hasn't done it though) have apparently now forgotten how to read. It started with the postal service, we started receiving mail for someone on a completely different street, no similarity even in spelling, only the house number was the same. Then we started getting my next door neighbor's mail regularly. When Chris left for work today he noticed a large box on our front porch. We hadn't ordered anything, so when I checked it, it's for the same house number on the next street over.
If I'm going to have to re-deliver mail, shouldn't I at least get the pension plan?

I hate that, hate, hate, hate, hate!!! We had the house we were trying to sell broken into, they stole three stained glass windows and the entire fraking beautiful leaded glass front door!! I have never been so angry in my life as that. I know exactly how you feel, I hope you catch them one day, up on the mountain, when your camping with Pi, and some of your firearms, and some rope, and a baseball bat, oh and a hot poker, and a ..... never mind - I hope they get caught and they get what is coming to them.

There is nothing so low and despicable as someone who would rather take from someone else simply because they don't have something.

Was it your monitor or did it belong to the agency? This was the real estate place right? Did you have your laptop with you at home?

It was easier to just take it over there and leave it on their porch with the OTHER HALF of the delivery.... I kid you not. I got over there, pulled in their driveway and on their porch was another large box from the SAME company....No one was home so I left a note and the box.
