Really, if you've read The Silmarillion you've read this story, just in a shorter form. There's not a great deal extra that I noticed, although I haven't compared the texts. Ok, a change of pace for my next read: The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie This is the first of Agatha Christie's novels, and is out of copyright in the US, but not in life+50 or life+70 countries. I bought it back in February 2010 for $0.76 during a fictionwise sale. A very good price, IMO. Now to see if it was also a good buy!

Now reading (p-book) The Joy of X, by Michael Willers ISBN: 978-0550-10523-3 Still re-reading and enjoying (e-book) The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, by Mark Twain. Some of his descriptions are delightful: Spoiler:

 now I finished the Godfather by Mario Puzo, I'm switching back and forth between the origami book and the Golden Compass ('cause you guys have been talking a lot about it, I decided it was time to step in. You all love the book and not the movie. I never read it, but watched the movie and all I remember is I like Daniel Craig didn't understand a thing from the movie.) |

I'm STILL reading the Mists of Avalon. I can't remember when the last time I took so long to read a book. I've got less than 100 pages left, hopefully I will finish it tonight. I'm reading the Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy on the side, though

I didn't see the movie and I didn't think the book was all that great, but mostly I was infuriated by the religious propaganda in the book, which would have been annoying if written for adults but I found completely uncalled for in a children's book. But maybe that is a debate for the politics & religion forum.

 Just started the second Virgin River book. Shelter Mountain, I think it's called. I bought the first four books bundled for Kindle for relatively cheap. I liked the first one a lot, and since I just bought a book, I figured I'd read at least one more of these so I don't have to spend money for a little while. (;

 Currently reading "The Idiot" by Dostoevsky, I've been trying to expand my reading horizons after reading mostly SciFi for the last year or so(with a smattering of robert rankin and jasper fforde).

 I'm listening to Bridget Jones' Diary again - I need something funny after the grim book I'm finishing up about the global conflict of Christianity vs. Islam.
