My only complaint is that, on the charge cradle (which is a bit heavy - probably weighted so the unit won't fall over when charging), the charging light is always on - even if the unit isn't in the cradle. The unit was a tad pricy - I paid $35 for it at Barnes and Noble, but I had a gift card so it wasn't nearly as bad.

If anyone is interested, I can take a few pictures of the unti in use.

Mike

Hi Mike,

I would also be interested in seeing photos of this unit in use. Also, does it take batteries in addition to the cradle option? I ask, because I wouldn't want to add yet another accessory to my collection, when traveling.

I got this also, after trying out several others that were not bright enough, and whose batteries had to be replaced at too high a cost. It works very well for me with an even light. The charge lasts a really long time, so only used the base a few times.

It is odd that the charge light is on all the time, but as the charge lasts so long, just unplug it and stick it in a drawer until needed.

Smile Greatpoint Light Two for $30

I also use this book light with my PRS 500 and love the fact that you can recharge the batteries. I frequently fall asleep with the book and light on (much to my husband's dismay) but even still the charge lasts many days.

I found a two pack of the lights at Costco for around $30 which is what Borders charges for one. That makes it an even better deal.

Great Point Light

I took some pictures of the Great point light in use, its really a decent light. the bluish tinge, glare and dark spots are exaggerated by the camera, but i think the pictures do it justice as far as lighting capabilities go.

mighty bright xtra flex 2 LED light works for me

I have been using the xtra flex 2 LED light in lower setting (with one LED on). Since the neck is very flexible, you can always adjust it to an angle to eliminate the bright spot. I use three rechargable AAA batteries which can last a week or more (20 hours).

The mighty bright Duet LED light may work better for some people, but I don't like the look of two heads.

I also like the Mighty Bright XtraFlex2

I, who have the honor of starting of this thread, have settled on the XtraFlex2. The brightness (one LED in the dark, 2 LEDs in a dim room) is just right, the longevity of the batteries is great, the flexible neck is nice and the price is right. Sure, I'd like the base to smaller and/or flatter, but not at the expense of changing non-standard batteries more often.
The Great Point Flex-Neck I have dims too quickly when the watch-style batteries run down.
The CFL Phorm Light Voyager is too bright, heavy, and the clamp is too stiff.
Hoorah! I have achieved book light happiness.

Thank you to tmaxkc for posting that the Great Point lights are available at Costco, shrink-wrapped with 2 lights and one charger for $30. I bought it yesterday since I am particularly bothered by the disposal of coin-batteries in landfills as well as the expense of replacing them in my z-booklight, which was my preferred light until seeing the pictures of this new light. 2 lights including rechargeable batteries in each for less than what one appears to cost at Barnes&Noble -- such a deal!

And I find that with any light there is a bright spot which gradually fades towards the opposite end and the Great Point light is no different, but it is very usable and with 36 hours (the documentation claims) per charge when used on the lower-light setting (which is perfectly fine for my eyes), these should be wonderful for a long time!

There are two lamps that do not have the spot because you do not have to have the lamps over the screen.

1. Verilux (2xAA).
2. Bug (3xAAA).

I believe there are links for both of them in this topic. I cannot comment on bug light but verilux has a relatively short battery span life - 6 hours. Although I use good rechargeable batteries and always have a couple of a spare set under hand, so it is not a problem for me.

Verilux uses Cold Cathode bulb, not LED, that's why the battery life is not as good as the Mighty Bright bug light. But on the other hand, its light spectrum may feel more natural and easier on the eyes for some people.

I originally posted over in the Cybook Accessories forum. However, since this is the thread that everyone gets referred to, and since the Tensor Full Spectrum Booklight would work just as well with a Sony Reader, I thought that I'd better post here as well and link across to it. Here's the post with the info on the Tensor:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18087

It's really a very nice light.

Something new for a change.

Looks very nice and the lamp is long which is a very important feature for 6" reader (to cover evenly across the screen).

I will add it as third lamp in my lamp list for readers

Did some digging and found it (a bit) cheaper, and in multiple colors, too!
