Anyone using deeperblue's Honeycomb v4 as their main OS?

Is honeycomb v4 for the NC okay for general use (mostly web-browsing), or is it still too buggy?

I use it (while i type this), it is nice to play with, but nowhere near ready for prime use. Considering that Google has not released the code yet, just the SDK, it is pretty amazing, but you get the odd crash and some apps wont install or run. Give these clever chaps some time after official release and we could have a honeycomb rom worth flashing.

How about if someone just wants to use the NC for the web browser, which version would have the best browsing experience: HC v4, Froyo, or 1.1 rooted?

If you just want a better browsing experience, I would suggest you stick to the stock ROM + root and install any of the available browsers from the market.

Thanks a lot for the response! I had a feeling that was the case, so I'll stick with your advice.

If I stick with stock ROM + root, will overclocking improve the browser experience, or is it mainly useful for just other apps?
Thanks again

I find froyo + overclock to provide the best browsing experience.

Sorry for my ignorance (my NC is arriving today), but what benefits does Froyo have over stock 1.1?

I had it stored on the SD card, I guess live-SD (liveCD like Ubuntu?) Anywho, pretty cool interface, a bit glitchy, and without an easy way to throw on Marketplace and the Google suite, it's a dealbreaker for me. I think in the next month or two, thanks to DeeperBlue and the other XDA Developers, we may be using it as our main, but not just yet, at least for this poster.

I have been running Honeycomb 3.0v4 for the past couple of weeks and it is pretty stable and I don't get anymore force close issues then I do with CM7 or Froyo so I use it as my daily driver.

I have it installed in emmc and the v4 comes with google apps and the overclock kernel so I didn't have to mess with any ADB installs...just flashed it.

Things that haven't worked for me: You Tube, Air Attack HD, Glyder 2, Android Music Player 3.0 and some of the third party apps and games. Web browsing, music, Nook or Kindle Reader apps and games like Angry Birds do work so I'm happy with it.

In the past month, I have used CM7, Ultimate Droid and the plain Auto-Nooter and ClockWork roots along with the Honeycomb and they all work fine....but have their bugs.

If you are looking to keep the Nook as close to being stock while having the flexibility of the Android Market Apps then Auto-Nooter or ClockWork root are the best choices. If you are looking to turn your Nook into a tablet then CM7 or Honeycomb is the way to go.

I hope this helps.
