Modern Writers | Interviews with remarkable authors

A collection of interviews from the BBC's archives with some of the 20th Century's most remarkable authors. "Great writers have always fascinated their readers. We want to know how they create the characters we love or hate, the evocative settings, and the plots that have us reading late into the night, desperate to know what happens next. Throughout its history, the BBC has aimed to help audiences delve into the imagination of writers. This collection of interviews with some of the 20th Century's most read authors reveals something of those imaginations and the personalities which lie behind some of the greatest modern novels." If you live outside the UK you may get the following message, "Not available in your area", however some interviews are available to me here in France - for example the interview with Salman Rushdie, Sebastian Faulks and Monica Ali - so perhaps these are generably available worldwide. Presumably the restriction is for copyright reasons. |

Some of BBC's video content has always been restricted to the UK -- UK taxpayers, after all, do pay for it for the benefit of UK residents. Nothing new here.

Looks like a fascinating series: and another example of where BBC ought to be providing some low cost method for external access, especially to archival material, as a revenue generator. |
