But the truth is, each must have the device he/she is happy with. I 'm happy with my Samsung Wave, but if your "dumb-phone" is the phone who does it for you - be happy with it (and smug, 'cause you paid much less than me and are equally happy )

Curious you should resurrect this thread right now, Kenny. I've loved my dumb phone (call and text only) for years but last night I ordered two iPhones for my wife and me. I am not sure I'm happy about it, either.

I may have to be kicked out of the club soon... I am highly considering getting a Samsung Intercept (Android 2.1) or a LG Optimus V (Andriod 2.2) with Virgin Mobile service.

This is the first smart phone with what I consider a reasonable rate.... the $25 a month pre-paid (yes $25 a month total includes all taxes and fees) for unlimited data and messaging and 300 anytime talk minutes.

My kids have the Samsung, they got them for Christmas and they seem to like them. Anyone have an suggestion on which one would be better? I like the idea of the physical keyboard on the Samsung... but the newer version of Andriod might be better. Does anyone know if the Samsung Intercet can be upgraded?

You won't regret it, Ii didn't need a smart phone, but I couldn't do without it now. I went from a Nokia that sent and received calls only to an iPhone a year ago, and I honestly wouldn't go back.

I have an old Nokia, which I'm going to use instead of my Blackberry; once the subscription has ended.
I don't need all the extra's; have my iPad for that (yes; I know; too heavy to phone with ).
I like being unfindable when not at home.

You'll love it, particularly if you already use iTunes/Apple App Store.

My daughter has an iPhone4 for almost three months and just last week started using the browser to check websites/google, etc.

I don't think I could live without my DroidX now that I've had it 6 months or so...

I would have probably gone with the LG. Here is a comparison.

Main advantage for me would be the better resolution of the screen. But the best way to choose is to go somewhere and play a bit with any of them.
Important: If the Samsung is not to get 2.2, there will be no flash content support.
The LG I have choosen is not exactly Optimus V, but it was the closest I found (according to Wiki)

I'm posting from my Android phone, riding down the highway and streaming internet radio from it while browsing the forums. Makes a long car trip much nicer.

I have not only one, but 2 cell phones (both are nokia, 1202 series) which make phone calls and texting. oh, and they have little bulbs on top, used as flashlight )

That's the kind of mobile phone I like! Nokia's have great battery life, I've found.
