go to amazon and leave a 1-star review. that may get their attention. also, if it makes you guys feel better, the new 3.1 does nothing to improve pdf. |

I still don't get the fuzz. The features from the 3.1 fw are nice to have but not a deal breaker. I suggest to have more patience about an upcoming firmware update. |

It is not at all unreasonable to expect that the Amazon's flagship reader will receive the same treatment, when their mass-market device is getting such updates. Moreover, currently there are no alternatives if one wants a large-screen device, so not buying the DXG is akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face. It just leaves a bitter taste in those who spent $400+ on their KDX, and I am sure many will remember it if alternatives emerge. Quote:

Are you under the impression that the largest, highest priced product equals "flagship device?" Because when I browse Amazon's site and look at their devices, I don't see the words "premier" or "flagship" on anything. I see a bigger device that costs more. Surely that's not the only criteria you're using to classify the DXG as Amazon's "flagship" device. It's quite obvious that Amazon doesn't consider it their flagship. So why do you (other than the fact that you own one)? Seriously, what's the deal with everyone making up product descriptions that don't exist? |

![]() I do regret that the DX does not have at least the same PDF functions as the K3, especially because I imagine many people (if not most) buy the DX specifically because they want an e-book reader that renders PDFs well. |

 1. the ship that carries the commander of a fleet or subdivision of a fleet and flies the commander's flag 2. the finest, largest, or most important one of a series So, under 2, the DXG could be considered the 'flagship' Kindle. |

Why did Amazon build in obsolescence into the DXG from the start? It was obsolete the day it was released.

they simply took a regular DX and slapped a pearl screen on it with a graphite shell. it enabled them to create a lot of buzz and anticipation for the K3, all for very little expense and trouble. |

The DX is not a flagship product, it is a niche product. While there is some overlap in those two categories (flagships tend to be expensive and through that slightly niche) that is not the case here. The DX Graphite is simply the DX with a newer generation screen and a different colour case. It wasn't apparently worth producing a real new version. Thus the DXG is second generation hardware, and is limited to second-generation firmware -- which means 2.5, same as the Kindle 2.

You knew when you bought it that it had second generation firmware, and thus hardware, and even a remote modicum of thought could have told you that there was never going to be an upgrade to 3.x in the future. |
