Samsung preparing a 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2 with Honeycomb for this Sunday?

cripes I certainly hope it's not another awful 16:9 ratio screen. A 10.1" slate with that screen ratio would be like reading a papyrus scroll not a book or computer screen, plus it's actually a small screen not as large and the PR would imply.

More competition is never a bad thing but one wonders given Samsung's partnering with Apple if there is not some sort of non-competition agreement in there somewhere which keeps prices higher than a normal Samsung device might be. Right now a person can buy a Samsung 32"-42" flat screen for less than a Galaxy Tab. Think about that for a minute.

Yeah, I'm skeptical about the iPad for a lot of reasons, but I do think that a 4:3 screen makes much more sense for a tablet than 16:9. Even though it is - at 9.7" - smaller diagonally, it actually has more area than a 10.1" 16:9 screen.

Samsung knows that it can flood the market with cheap devices but they are keeping the prices high as they wont be able to meet the demand at low prices
better to sell lesser devices at bigger margins plus all their excess production capacity is being used by apple and others so it is still making money on them.

Depends how you intend to use it really, the only main area where I find 4:3 better is when browsing the web.

I bought a number of game rules PDFs - 4:3 is MUCH better for reading them.

The most important part of this tablet is the operating system. It’s running Android 3.0 Honeycomb, the first version of Android designed for tablets. Honeycomb turns out to be pretty sweet, and as far away from Apple’s iOS as you could imagine. In fact, its closer to something like Windows XP

Honeycomb is clearly very different from iOS, and those who want a tablet version of a desktop OS will be very happy with it. I think it’s pretty ugly.

while that wired article is full of bs apple bias, can't help but think about the inclusion of a camera in a tablet.

Surely handy if you want teleconference and don't mind low quality, but other than that more silly than trying to phone with it. I mean, at least you can use earplugs and mic to phone, but imagine taking pictures at large with the damn thing!
