				Wondering what I am missing...

In the last two days, I have purchased and returned a Kindle 3 and a Nook Color. I LOVED the Kindle, so much, but could not get over the black flash that occurs during page turns, and found the text and background to be too dark. The weight was perfect, so light. Love amazon, etc... Sent it back, just don't think I am an e-ink person, sadly. Got Color Nook, didn't fee there were any other reasonable options. The Nook is WAY too heavy, and reminds me of my Sanmsung Fascinate phone, which is garbage.. Slow and buggy. My horrible Samsung experience makes me feel pretty anti-android.I would buy an iPad tonight, but it is too heavy. I know it is time to look at tablets, but I really want the thing to read books on. Tell me what else I should look at.... Help!

It's a shame you couldn't get comfortable with the K3. The 'black flash' and the 'off white' background are two things you become rather used to within a day or so of using it.

Best of luck with your adventures to find a perfect device. |

The jetBook Lite may be what you are looking for. This is a relatively basic reader using a 5" reflective grayscale LCD screen. There is also the original jetBook and the jetBook Mini. All three use the same screen, the jetBook uses rechargeable batteries and plays MP3's, the Lite uses AA batteries, and the mini uses AAA batteries (but only supports DRM-free FB2 ebooks - use Calibre to convert other DRM-free formats).

Your current options really are: either read on a monochrome e-ink display which you can read for hours with zero eyestrain; read on an lcd screen that, while backlit, has terrible battery life and is as bad on your eyes as staring at a computer screen; read physical books. =I I love my K2. I read with it alot more than I did without it. |

I think more time would also have been a good idea. Also, while I'm no expert on the firmware versions, some say the newer firmwares do faster page turns. The Kindles don't always ship with the newest firmware. Don't pages "flash" when you turn a paper page? And I've yet to see many books with stark white paper - magazines maybe but most of my books are a very cream or beige color. And my books do not allow me to change the font size when I'm more tired.

But keep on looking and you may find the right tool. |

I'm with the take more time crowd. At first, the black flash was bothersome to me too. Now, I barely notice it. I have updated my Kindle 3 FW to 3.1, if that makes a difference.
