Last time I was in Chapters, I was told that Chapters gift cards are indeed accepted at the Kobo store. Not having tried myself, I can't verify, but the cashier was adamant that they do work.

I'm wrong! Sorry about that. I just called for the fun of it and they say that you now can use the Chapters gift cards online to buy books from Kobo but you still need to have an account with a credit card attached to be able to use it. It's new as of December.

It's a good news/bad news kind of thing. Some people don't like having their credit card info online.

Unfortunately that's not correct.

I work in a bank and we're all just human beings. I can't tell you the number of times I've heard co-workers give out wrong information to clients. *shakes head*

You can buy a Kobo egift card and perhaps you can use the Chapters gift card to do that but I don't think so. It'd be a nice workaround if that was the case but it wasn't an option last time I looked. I even called the online help and they said no, not yet.

While irewards entitles you to an additional discount on all books, both online and in-store, the items listed below are not eligible for an irewards discount:

And for gift cards, ignoring the totally egregious punctuation:

Customer's can now use Chapters Indio Gift Cards when placing orders for ebooks on the Kobo website. Unfortunately Chapter Indigo Electronic Gift Certicates cannot be used on the Kobo website.
