You should try the Literature Map web site here http://www.literature-map.com/
Enter the name of the author you are interested in, in this case (Clive Cussler) then hit Return. A page will then open with Cussler's name in the center and other author's names arrayed around his. The closer to him they are, the closer their writing is to his. In this case, it appears the closest authors are Wilbur Smith, Jack Higgins and David Balducci |

You might try Ian Fleming. His books are nothing like the James Bond films.

But why on earth can't they keep the names still? The way they keep moving around is infuriating. Is it supposed to be some sort of game of skill, where you have to click on a moving target in order to go to the next stage? |

You might try an author from some years back: Alistair Maclean.

Cussler (at least his pre-1990 stuff) is my favorite author. I'd recommend Jack Dubrul's first 4 or 5 books, closest thing to Cussler I've ever read, though not specifically ocean thrillers. Also try Cibola by David Wood, an Indie author.
There aren't a lot of authors quite like him, but those two get fairly close. |

Out of curiosuty I entered "Clive Clussler" in the search and why on Earth it returned Janet Evanovich and Patricia Cornwell
![]() Shipwrecks and mystery always ahve me thinking of "Isvik" by Hammond Innes, can't tell if it's any good tho - havent gotten to it yet; but the description is stuck in my head. Anyhow, I'd recommend Andy McNab and Colin Forbes. Also you might want try James Rollins, but he's more desert kind of guy. |
