I always carry one of my readers with me. Both are small enough to slip into a purse. But I used to read on my iPhone before I had a reader, and I still use it on the bus sometimes if I really want to finish a chapter that I started on the train but when I'm afraid to take out my reader. It's fine for a short period of time, but I can't imagine reading on a tiny LCD screen all the time.

I've been reading on my HTC Incredible (Android) since I got it, and on PalmOS devices (mainly) before that. In landscape mode the pages are very nearly the same width as a paperback, and I adapted years ago to them being shorter vertically. I can't quite see lugging an ereader around; it seems hardly easier than carrying a DTB.

Well, the screen is too small (smaller than Milestone). Not sure about the eyes, as I haven't read on e-Ink before. (Before my phone, there were two Palm devices, and I also used to read on my computer screens... am I allowed to say that the old CRT wasn't really easy on the eyes? )

I'm sure you'll love your reader!

About reading on LCD: different people have a different attitude towards this. Meaning: some people can read on an LCD screen for hours without eystrain, even on a 3" screen. Others, like myself, get burning eyes after a couple of hours. E-ink is a lot more pleasing for the eyes in my opinion. I don't think I could live without my reader anymore.

I have a selection of books on both my DroidX as well as my Sony 505 and Kindle K2. I sometimes read the same book on the Droid and the Sony. Sony works fine in bright sunlight, the droid not so much...

Yes.

One reads when one as the device for reading with him/her (no device/book = no reading!)…
My windows mobile smartphone is always with me…

My trick is that I have a telephone just to be used for phone calls and sms. It is always functioning and it keeps the charge for several days.

In this way iPodTouch keeps the charge for the whole day, and I use it as a PA (calendar, and a bit of emails, wifi is not so common or accessible where I live, so that i can have it only at home or at work where in any case i have PCs' galore) and reader mostly. the screen is wonderful. Stanza is very flexible with epubs. If I buy I usually do it for Kindle which has a good reader on the iPod.

The big advantage of the touch is that it is so small. light and sturdy. Even if I have only few minutes I can use them reading a bit. I just have to put my hand in the pocket.

I'm also in the "used to" camp. The Sony 350 is crazy portable, so now that I have it, I always have it with me, and I don't need the phone for reading anymore.

Although the 350 is small, its screen is quite a bit larger than my iPhone's, giving it a less cramped feeling, which is why I prefer it to the phone. (LCD doesn't bother me, and the iPhone's retina display is amazing...it's just to small.)

Saying that, I can quite comfortably read on the Desire HD for long periods without experiencing any difficulty. Can't say the same for my previous phone which was a Nokia X6 and its screen was 3.2 inchs, that was a bit small for reading for too long.

I agree, I have Droid X also with a 4.3 screen, and I have to tell ya, it's actually pretty comfortable to read on. I love it when I'm on the subway and it's packed. It's just easier to use the phone than it is to pull out your ereader.

Plus the nook app for android is Fantastic.

the screen size makes it great for reading in a pinch.

Most certainly. And yet, I used to read a lot in it. LCD is a blessing next to the old rough days... but I'm confident colorful high refresh rate e-ink is the way to go...

I have an android phone with several ebook readers on it. I have the capability and the desire, but I haven't actually read anything on it. I find I like using my iPod touch better (ibooks) and that is with me just as much as my phone is.

Edit: I just realized I never mentioned that I do have a dedicated reader that I use for most of my reading. I do like the convenience of not having to carry it around with me all of the time, although if I think I will want it, I do take it with me. For those unexpected times, the iPod and the phone are handy to have.

I prefer reading on my Kindle, but I read on my Android phone using the Kindle for Android app fairly often. I don't mind pulling out my Kindle in a waiting room for an extended wait, but if I know I'm just going to be waiting 5 or 10 minutes I'll just pull up my book on my phone. (I don't mind the small size/frequent page turns because my first ebook reader was a Palm PDA. I actually loved that thing!)
