That homemade ketchup looks very yum!
http://whatkatieate.blogspot.com/201...wnies-and.html ![]() The cashew butter we had one Christmas (in a gift basket). It wasn't as good as I expected. The macadamia butter wasn't very tasty either. Maybe the basket collection was old? ![]() I don't want hear from any haggis anywhere wild OR domesticated! (or even snowy!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Shushan; 02-11-2011 at 12:49 AM. |

What I want to know about Scottish cuisine is, why do they deep fry anything they can get their hands on? Deep fried pizza, deep fried mars bars (sounds absolutely evil, the bad way), deep fried easter creme eggs, deep fried ice cream and my all time favorite deep fries Twinkies!
I confess that some of those sound good and that not all of those are Scottish ![]() |

I love hummus, and I love peanut butter when coupled with chocolate, but I can take it or leave it on its own.

I want to ask about other delicacies around the world. As you can see I have used a spoiler to cover the text and I suggest that anyone with a weak stomach just pass, you've been warned.
Spoiler:
This all brings up the question, why are some animals ok to eat and others not? When I fist came to malaysia I was told that the Malays won't eat pork, the Indians won't eat beef and the Chinese will eat anything they can catch. Sorry if I ruined any dinners, cheers. |

Thinking of *some* of you as I eat my dinner. A big bowl of Shin Ramyun (Korean ramen) with an egg scrambled in at the last minute and a side dish of kimchi. Oh, and a bottle of Bridgeport IPA to round it all out.

I must be the only other person on MR that likes Kim chi. I have to reiterate that some of the foods that people "hate" may only be "bad" because they tried bad versions in the past. On the other hand cultural differences in cuisines may prevent many from even thinking of trying some very good food. Escargot anyone? Gefilte fish (well maybe not Gefilte fish)? Chicken and chocolate gravy with chiles (Chicken Mole)? There are many ways to make food bad. But sometimes you can be surprised how good a strange recipe may be if done right. The only thing that I've balked at so far has been Chinese chicken feet. Spoiler:
