Sure, I'll take that. But Amazon must realize the kind of buyers they are alienating in this case.

Wow Bilbo1967, you must work in customer service at the internal revenue service. Love the "customer be dammed" attitude.

I have a dx and I find the pdf support to be fine. If you want better support by all means use doukan. You can darken/lighten the ink and have a different page setup

Why would Amazon purposely make the DXG less advanced then the K3?

oh come on!
it's true that some people will never be satisfied, but is it really too much to ask that amazon at least make some firmware improvements instead of simple bug fixes on a 400 dollar device- their newest and top of the line? Is it still a great device? yes. am I going to sell mine? no. did I buy it based on what it could possibly do in the future? of course not. still, I sure wouldn't mind some DXG love from amazon. it's not unreasonable. |

The problem with getting the BBC involved is that it won't work. The DXG is not sold in the UK. So the BBC won't be wasting their time on a product that's not for sale in the UK. This is a futile endeavor.

By that logic:
I bought a Toyota Landcruiser on August 2010. Toyota released the Yaris on September 2010. Now, Toyota is providing free oil-change, free car wash, and free maintenance to Yaris owners. Landcruiser owners got a little tree air freshener. Are those damned Landcruiser owners being unreasonable? |

I didn't see him call you any names in the argument. However, I am going to resort to name calling. Have fun, troll.

The product line has "forked". The K2 and DX were essentially the same product with different size screens. Amazon chose to develop the K2 further because that size reader is where the majority of sales come from and that size reader is where the competition is working. The DX is a unique product that has no competition because of the display size and now because they chose to upgrade to the pearl display. The decision to upgrade the DX display may not even have been made by Amazon. The manufacturer may have simply discontinued making the older displays when they developed the Pearl display because the Pearl display performs better and may also be cheaper to make. In that case, Amazon may have had to change the display or quit making the DX. Whatever reason justified the purchase of the DX at $379 hasn't changed because they upgraded the K3. The DX is still the device you bought. It still does what you bought it to do. If the K3 does something better and you have to have that functionality, then get a K3. You can get added pdf functionality by installing Duokan. You can't get the DX's big display in anything but a DX, and the big display is the most important feature for reading pdf files. |

It's not unreasonable to ask for a better PDF reader, sadly doukan's is better and it works - so there's at least proof of concept that the DXG can have a better PDF reader.
The reason they haven't done anything about it is because, in their mind the one on there works "good enough" and there isn't a large enough client base to warrant upgrading it. So this is the way it is. |
