I don't like Starbucks coffee (I do like their desserts and some of their teas, though). I like Tim Horton's coffee (in Canada), and I love Turkish and Greek coffee. I used to brew Turkish coffee every morning, but I found that I was drinking too much of it and it was making me a bit jittery, so I've switched to tea in the morning.

I find a place with nice coffee and a week later they have new staff and the coffee sucks. My favourite place to get coffee now is the place that has the best cakes. It's called Cavallaro's. |

There's a place in Toronto called The Green Beanery. They roast their own coffee beans every day, and the best coffee I've ever had (and that says a lot, after all my barista days) came from there.

Every day it's a different variety, so you might not get the same cup two trips in a row, but it will always be superior to Starbucks, Second Cup, Timothy's, Tim Horton's, or any other chain coffee shop. There's just a big difference to fresh-roasted that's impossible to describe tp anyone who's never had it. |

Until recently I was very satisfied with the results. Today I have tasted a small sampling batch of coffee that was roasted recently by a professional. THAT was something. From now on, I will use this sample to compare what colour is my roasted coffee supposed to have. Of course it helps that he used much more expensive AAA quality beans ;-) |

Me too! We stayed in a racy-schmancy hotel inRome, and it was in the room. It was soooooo good, nothing like the Taster's Choice of my childhood. (Been drinking coffe since Ii was 3). Since then, it is the only coffee I buy. Tim doesn't drink coffee, or any hot beverages, so I just make a cup at a time.

For bigger batches, the best I have ever tasted is AAA Kenyan. Even better than Blue Mt Jamaica. But it is highly acidic and tastes mild, so I drink too much and get tummy pains. Totally worth it. The taste is unlike any other coffee, because however you roast it, the others are still combinations of arabica and robusto. Starbucks sucks. But I spent a lot of money at the one in the lobby shop where I used to work. It was still better than anything they were burning in the coffee pot in the office. I think the girls in the office made it with paper shreds, stool samples, and spit. |

Dunkin' Donuts was well known for having great coffee back in the days before Starbucks.

Starbucks made a decision that their coffee should taste the same whenever and wherever you bought a cup so they over-roast it to hide any variations. http://www.americastestkitchen.com/r...hp?docid=27091 The coffee discussion starts at the 15:20 mark. I've always stated that Starbucks tastes like coffee filtered through burnt fur.

For the best instant coffee try the Mexican brands. Nescafe Clasico with the Spanish label is the best. Cafe Bustelo is pretty good also.

Hmmm! I'll have to try them. They are both carried at my local supermarket. I like to have some dry 'powder' on hand for emegencies.

Coffee is a subject near and dear to me. After many many years of various kinds of coffee, and various ways to make coffee, I have finally found the perfect cup of coffee:

The coffee: Lavazza Caffe Espresso Ground Coffee ordered from Amazon. Made in a: Bialetti Moka Express 3 Cup Espresso Maker stove top coffee maker. I have been using both of the above for about 2 years now, I will never go back to any other coffee or any other method of making coffee... |

You are right, that stove top maker truly is best. I forgot about that. Not you've flung a craving on me.

And the coffee made like that is so good that no matter what sort of grounds you use, it is still gonna turn out great. I wonder where my coffee maker is hiding? Can I use it on my ceramic cooktop?
