Only thing that comes to my mind right now and that I really tried and hated is Marmite.

There are more things, but these probably do not count as I would refuse tasting them ...

100 year egg for example .... some things should just stay buried

I think I'd rather try century eggs. Their kind of disgusting I can accept. But this balut will haunt me when I next eat (normal, freshly cooked) eggs.

Not sure if a link to a site/blog I once found would be acceptable, so I'll just say google for "Steve, don't eat it". I wouldn't eat anything he tried. Even though most of it was (labelled as) food for humans...
(Also, some of the images aren't all that tasty...)

Personally, I wouldn't want to eat any organs or blood. Muscle tissue is fine, but why eat the rest?
I suppose it's mostly the presentation and thought of it. It obviously doesn't bother me (much) when it's added to sausages.

oh yeah! 100 year egg would beat that embryo thing any day. Luke Ngyuen (spelling) was trying to tell us on the telly that it was not gross, and that it was a delicacy! yuk! it looks gross to me! if it gets to that stage, let the bluddy thing hatch and grow and be a chicken. then kill it and put it in a curry!

The world is divided into Marmite lovers and Marmite haters - it's the only thing I bring back from the UK when I visit, everything else I can live without.

Vegemite is disgusting and Australian Seriously, I think Vegemite tastes more yeasty, whereas Marmite just has an umami flavour.

I think we should have a blindfold on, when trying out new foods... Our eyes tells us too much on what we're about to eat...

but don't they have similar flavors? I know I've had vegemite, an explosion of salt in my mouth, and I *think* I've had marmite, and I thought they were somewhat similar?

Vegemite is a pale imitation of Marmite. The original is (IMHO) far superior.

Yep, that's what the Marmite FAQ said... No bias there.

Personally, I found Vegemite just on the edge of unpalatable; I'm not sure I want to try Marmite.

Marmite prides itself in its commercials on the fact that many people hate it. It has to be one of the only products around that makes a selling point of the fact that a large number of people think it's revolting .

Eg:

Nope, Buckley's Cough Mixture ads use the tag: "It tastes awful, and it works!"
They're right on both counts, it's got menthol, camphor, and (I think) pine tar!

And Listerine mouth wash says "the taste people hate, twice a day"

Apparently both products increased their sales after starting to use those lines

But I love the video.

But neither of those is food . Is there any other food that sells itself on the fact that many people hate it?

Pot Noodles used to be marketed as "The slag of all snacks" - for non-Brits a "slag" is a slang word the used to refer to a prostitute but the marketeers extended the sense of the word to refer to something "naughty":
