Content available update

I just got an email from Amazon that a book that I purchased previously "has an available update."

The email also says:

It’s important to note that when we send you the updated version, you will no longer be able to view any highlights, bookmarks, and notes made in your current version and your furthest reading location will be lost.

If you wish to receive the updated version, please reply to this email with the word “Yes” in the first line of your response. Within 2 hours of receiving the e-mail any device that has the title currently downloaded will be updated automatically if the wireless is on.

My questions are:

1. does my notes file still contain the notes but they are not associated with the book?

2. if the book is not on my device and i download it weeks later, am i downloading the updated version or the new one (assuming i answer yes to to the email).

No. Deleting the book deletes the notes. They are gone.

I don't know what you mean by "the updated one or the new one". The updated one IS the new one.

Re: 1, you may have a copy of your notes in your "My Clippings" file, which is just a text file, and not associated with the actual book and its notes. Unfortunately, the location numbers will not match the updated book, probably. You could try looking close to the old location numbers, in the revised copy, and try and re-enter the notes, if they are important to you.

If a book is updated, the locations change, and then the notes, etc. would not correlate to the revised copy of the book. That's why your old notes would have to go away.

I'm pretty sure that if a book is deleted, the annotations associated with that book in the clippings file go too. Unfortunately I don't have my Kindle at hand to test this!

My apologies Harry, I miss typed my question. It should have said "update one or the original one."
