I had to fire someone for a mistakenly, he claimed, sent email. His rant that pretty much told the client that he knew she was doing something with a roll of duct tape, a tube of KY and a rather surprised sheep, not to mention that the services that our company provided, printing 2 million impressions of a monthly popular computer rag, was too expensive and she should just look somewhere else. Needless to say the client, a nice lady who had nothing whatsoever to do with KY, was displeased. The only way I could manage to keep the account was to fire the employee, I wasn't thrilled but the boss/owner was pretty persuasive.

So the moral of the story, write your rant in your text editor and stew on it for the evening and if it still looks acceptable, they never do, fire it off in the morning.

[QUOTE=Mortis;1373168]Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are not that similar from what I remember, but it has been a long long time since I was there, I seem to remember this gent with a kite and a string, some nonsense about elec-trickle something or other, rather mad I think.

So, how would you answer, "All things considered I'd rather be in _Taos?_QUOTE]

what!? it was worth a shot!

Yes, I do that, sometimes I will run it by my boss or co-worker for a "tact check". Occasionally I "accidently" hit the send button first, then wish I hadn't!

I didn't know that Kentucky came in tubes, is that something like Philadelphia cream cheese coming in tubs?

I do that on forums as well, whenever someone is pushing my buttons. I write out this reply telling them exactly what I think, then open a new tab and keep on browsing normally. I go back in an hour or so and read what I wrote, and usually end up erasing it unsent, because by then I'm not mad anymore.

That's so funny and tragic at the same time. I let out a laugh when I read that. This is an open plan office.

Sometimes you have to fire the customer.

People are stupid. I started out this shift telling my cashiers to politely tell people that they could take their carts to the entrance, pull their cars up and we'd load their groceries into their cars. After about the sixth reply of, "Oh, I'm tough, I'll take them out to the car" I got blunt with them, and informed them it wasn't THEM I was thinking of, it was my cashiers who don't need to be trying to push carts through deep snowdrifts in negative zero weather! After following about three people outside and taking their carts from them (dramatically shivering the whole time), some of them finally got the idea.

My computer decided it didn't want to start up normally anymore. I'm now in safe-mode backing everything up, I'm nearly done after that I'll try to reboot in normal mode. If that doesn't work I need to reinstall windows but I can't seem to find my disc. I know I had it on my desk for ages and a little while ago thought that wasn't a good place for it, but I can't remember where I thought it was a safe place. I might just get Windows 7, I wanted to upgrade for a while now anyway.
