Excellent choice
Congratulations! Remember, the Sony-PRS-350 isn't just an e-book reader. Given your discerning choice, if you install Calibre on your PC, you'll find that you can download hundreds of different free periodicals (newspapers, magazines, cartoons, websites, etc).

Given that Sony Reader Library can do so perfectly well, there is no need for Calibre.

Addendum Also, Calibre is handy for editing metadata, book cover thumbnails, organising book collections, as well as fetching news, particularly if you are unable to use the Sony Reader Library Software, plus a convenient way to transfer e-books to your reader (for example, free e-books downloaded from MR or Project Gutenberg). Congratulations on your new reader, great choice! I have the Sony PRS-505 (I'm starting to feel like a dinosaur), and I have never used the audio options, and have very rarely used the SD card slots (my reader only has about 250 MB of space). I don't think that you will miss those functions on your PRS-350.

There are plenty of folks who buy books from other stores, like Amazon, because they cannot find the books that they want in EPub or because books are cheaper at Amazon. Many a Sony reader has posted about buying books from Amazon and have used Calibre in order to get the book onto their Sony.

Absolutely, I echo the use of Calibre. Use it and have fun with managing your ebooks.
There's added functionality from Calibre that Sony's software just doesn't offer. Don |

Congratulations! I just got a Sony 350 also & really like it a lot. I have 3 devices & prefer it for reading over the other two. I will say it is easier to just shop with the Nook or Kindle3 , but in time I will find this way just as easy.

If you prefer to pick it up locally, I'd call ahead to check if they have any left in stock. Near me the stock is pretty low everywhere. When I got mine the store only had 2 left in stock, and I got one of them. |
