We have a disaster recovery drill in progress that started at 6 AM. It is now 3 PM and they are still working with network issues to get the recovery personnel connected to the recovery site! The Drill is supposed to demonstrate our ability to recover from a total data center destruction within 48 hours.....it's gonna be a LOOOOOOONG night..,.

Ohhhh, good luck! (let us know how it goes; it sounds interesting) It doesn't *sound* like things are going more slowly than they should? Or did you/they expect things to be further along by now?

Oh yeah, it's all very horked up.... some are saying 5 hours behind others are saying 3.....

Took my lady out for pizza and a movie tonight. While we were at the restaurant, the young waitress -- somewhere around 18 or 19 years old -- drops a full cup on our table. Kind of hits the side of the table and then falls to the floor, completely drenching my left pant leg, and shoe, and leaving a huge puddle on the table.

Accidents happen, I wasn't mad about the fact she dropped the cup ... I was kind of stunned that she never apologized. She quickly bent to the floor and scooped the ice onto the tray and that was the last we saw her until she brought out our food. Never blinked an eye or so much as mentioned it happening.

Me and my lady just kind of sat there there in awe for a few minutes, thinking she was coming back with a washcloth or something, and then we took our only 2 napkins and tried to soak up the puddle on the table.

This wasn't a cheap place either, a so-called "gourmet" pizza restaurant, the bill was just shy of 70 bucks just for the two of us. Nothing like paying good money to get your clothing ruined

Wow - as you said, Accidents do happen. But I'd expect an apology and someone hurrying to clean your table at a minimum! Jeesh, where have basic manners gone? And did you leave a tip?

I once left a penny in a similar situation. I counted the exact bill, put it aside on the actual bill paper and left the penny a few cm to the side. You should have seen her face when asking (pointing to the penny) "What is this?" I said "It's just the appropriate tip for the service you provided."

At the very least I would have ask to speak with the manager, and have him/her apologize for the manners displayed by restaurant staff. They should have offered to pay to have your clothes cleaned as well.

Yes, you should have asked to speak to the manager. If the girl was that young, as sad as it sounds, she just may not have known any better or been too embarrassed to say anything. And if management doesn't know it happened then they will never have the chance to correct both the situation and the way she handles it in the future. If you simply left a smaller tip then you went away angry and she got angry and nothing got resolved.

This night I woulda traded ya, but I guess this is when I earn my money.

We're currently at a lull point waiting on the mainframe to get recovered and connectivity to be in place. We had our 6 servers turned over to us about 11 PM and finished all our application installs about 8 AM...I may try to catch some sleep....
