"Oasis" flavor? What does an Oasis taste like? Camel? Sand? Dates?

I'm on to my second cup of the morning... this time it's East India Company's Assam tea. Still a nice cup of tea!

No, I don't have any idea whose birthday it is. I just felt like singing the song.

Yorkshire tea to start the morning off correctly, along with some hot biscuits (that's American biscuits, not UK cookies.) I like fresh home made biscuits!

There is snow in the mountains surrounding Kyoto, so I can't get out of town. It sure does look pretty though.

I thought biscuits were only used as the base for a torrent of sausage gravy?

According to Lupicia's site, it's supposed to be tropical fruits. I'm not sure that's exactly what I'm tasting, but it beats Adagio's version of "flavor" for sure.

And if you ask my husband, he'd tell you the same thing. Me, I eat 'em any way I can get 'em. Jam, or butter, or sausage "sandwich"...

I'm from north of the line. We get to use them with sweet butter and jam!

(Not to imply that there is anything wrong with a breakfast of artery-clogging grey lumpy stuff that turns good biscuits soggy.)

I take my hat off to advertisers who are able to use burning hell holes as tropical delights, and actually make it work! "Oasis" used to conjure up any fruit other than dates won't work for anyone who's needed to find an oasis in the desert for respite from the sun. Fortunately, most people think of an Oasis as we saw them in the old Bing Crosby/Bob Hope movies, with bubbling fountains, and huge plates of mangos, grapes, bananas, and apples, and the occasional dancing slave girls... Hmmm... I think that actually sounds pretty good.

You don't like my biscuits... I put sugar and vanilla in them, making them a touch sweet. Not quite like cookies or cakes, but just enough to cut the baking powder taste.

Actually, that sounds pretty good!! I wouldn't put gravy on that kind, but for a sweet change, yeah, bring it on!

No, that would be me. Sugar in biscuits? Vanilla?? That is wrong, just wrong, and it would make the gravy taste so odd!

You're right. It would be horrible with sausage gravy. But these biscuits can stand on their own. They don't NEED gravy. Sort of a cross between a sweet roll and a baking powder biscuit. It's got the flaky, crumbly texture of the biscuit and almost the sweetness of the roll. In fact, I usually don't even bother with the jam with these, or else instead of a spoon full of jam use just a schmere of it for the fruit flavor....Hmmmm........ That gets me to thinking.....

Urgh, Friday again. I know most people hate monday, but friday is the toughest day of the week for me. It always seems to drag and drag and drag ...

Ah well, I'd better get started. But first: double cappuccino and some homemade bread to go with my mum's homemade jam.
