Choosing One of The Dictionaries
I'm in the process of setting up my kindle and thought I would select one of the 2 dictionaries that come with the Kindle as my default. When I followed the instructions I didn't get the option to choose one..I have the wi-fi 3g..any ideas?

One of two dictionaries that come with the Kindle?
It's my understanding that the Kindle series (including the Kindle 3) comes by default with the New Oxford American Dictionary only. You can use a different dictionary with which to look up words, but you have to pay for it as you would any other ebook, whereas the Oxford Dictionary comes preinstalled for free on the device. I even went to Amazon's page for buying a Kindle for Australia (since your location says Melbourne,) and it says the same thing as what is says for the States: "Never get caught without a dictionary. Kindle includes The New Oxford American Dictionary with over 250,000 entries and definitions, so you can seamlessly look up the definitions of English words without interrupting your reading." http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003DZ1Y8Q?...-20&country=AU |

It is the UK Kindle which comes with 2 dictionaries - The New Oxford American Dictionary and Oxford Dictionary of English.
If you cannot select a different dictionary by selecting Menu / Settings / Menu / Change Primary Dictionary then I guess your version only comes with one dictionary. |

hmm.
Okay then. =p According to what I've read: from the Home screen click Menu, go to Settings, then click Menu again, select "Change Primary Dictionary," then change it to the desired option. |

Go to the "Settings" page, display the menu, and select "Change Primary Dictionary".

I have both and can use both individually but I can't change the primary dictionary used by me Kindle. There's nothing in Settings that gives me that option.

Please read what I said. Go to the Settings page AND THEN PRESS THE MENU BUTTON. The "Change Primary Dictionary" option is on the MENU, not on the Settings page itself.

Thanks Harry T! I followed your intructions to select the dictionary I prefered...which is slightly different to the instructions contained in the manual.
