PRS500 DeviceBusy on Linux Mint 9

Hi all.

Quick question, I have just bitten the bullet and switched from Windows to Linux Mint 9.
The problem is, I cant get Calibre to send anything to my PRS500.
I checked the debug and it said device is in use by another application .

Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can solve this?

Is this a ePub modified PRS-500?

Is there a reason you are using such an old version? If there is no specific reason then uninstall it and install the latest version via the binary install method described here.

I'm not a Linux guy, as well, but the device is actually mounted as a USB drive? If not, it needs to be.

calibre dropped support for unupgraded PRS500s a while ago. You can try using older calibre releases around 0.6.29 vintage, but your on your own.

out of interest, how do i upgrade my 500? I've had a shufti around the net but all i can find is websites saying its a good idea but nothing on the sony site
