shel- that bites!! The place sounds nice, too bad the landlords are freaks! I hope you find a good place soon.

KK- if you're hanging out, hope things resolve nicely for you. Family troubles suck. Hey, any troubles suck!

Ok, I'll whine. Now that I'm feeling better, I have a nasty, lingering, deep, yucky cough. Last time I had this going on, it lasted for months before I finally went to the doctor and was prescribed antibiotics for bronchitis. Aren't there any nice "at home" methods to clear this issue up? It's the deep productive sounding/phlegmy cough that just keeps recurring. YUCK!

If you are coughing up lots of dark coloured stuff you will prolly need antibiotics to clear it up. I always try to fight it off myself first. (thinking I am making myself strong!)

I have used large doses of Vitamin C (to the point of diarrhea) to help, but that may not be advised for you. be careful if you try this.

Hopefully it is just the damage from the illness that is causing the cough and it will heal up on its own. Eucalyptus lollies always make it feel better

You could always assume it is a man-cold and will need to have all meals brought to you in bed. Plenty of peace and quiet (so you can catch up on your reading)

Grace... are you a cigarette smoker?
When I was, I'd get that every single winter... Once I stopped smoking I never had it again.

I have something like that going on for the past month. About 10 days after I got a cold, I could tell I was no longer viral but had horrible bronchitis. I got a Z-Pack from the dr, which usually works. It may have done a little something, but it's still lingering. If I sleep on my back, it almost seems to pool in the back of my lungs. Very weird... but I suppose it could be worse; I could still have a cold and then feel really miserable.

I usually do this, but I'm so tired of downing 30 tablets of Vit C. You should stop when you get loose stools. At that point, you're saturated and more won't do any good. Hmmm... of course, the fact that I can down 15K worth of Vit C without any ill effects, pretty much, means that I need it. Ugh!

It's just not rational, these feelings about family. It can be hard to get over it.

Oooh, a man-cold! I need one of those!! I did take my first sick day in ages, but no one was home to serve me, and I ended up having to do all my work from home anyway I have upped my vitamin C a bit, but not to the point of diarrhea. I didn't know that was possible. Maybe I'll up it some more. I hope it will heal up on its own, I dislike taking meds in general. I need some Eucalyptus lollies, I think!

Nope, never been a smoker, but I do live in the land of vog, where respiratory issues seem to linger I may as well be smoking (ok, not really).

Meh...I did 4.5 on the same water rig I have now. I was running it at 4.1 24/7 but dialed it back to 3.84 to get some more speed out of the RAM (currently at 1140-something MHz). Idle temps average 8-10℃ above ambient.

Look up Ascorbic Acid Flush. A friend of mine who was studying to be a holistic dr told me about this 2 decades ago. I didn't believe it, but much to my surprise, after loading myself up w/ enormous amounts of C, the huge lymph nodes in my neck went down after 1.5 hrs. I stopped the c, a few hours later they were back up. I started taking C, they went down. LOL... That started me on the path to finding natural remedies that encourage your body to heal itself.

There's a really good book that I've only heard about recently called Doctor Yourself by Andrew Saul, Ph.D that puts things very simply:

When it comes to RDAs, one size fits nobody. Let’s temporarily assume that orthodox dietitians are correct when they tell us that vitamin supplements can cure nothing but vitamin deficiency diseases. If this is true, then any symptom cured by supplements indicates a deficiency. If zinc speeds recovery from the common cold (and many studies confirm this), then people with colds are zinc-deficient. If lots of vitamin C shortens the intensity and duration of the common cold (and dozens of scientific studies prove this), then people with colds are vitamin C deficient as well. The RDAs and pitiful American intakes are therefore below the deficiency levels.

LAW: The quantity of a nutritional supplement that cures an illness indicates the patient’s degree of deficiency. It is therefore not a megadose of the vitamin, but rather a megadeficiency of the nutrient, that we are dealing with. - Doctor Yourself by Andrew Saul, Ph. D

After seeing him interviewed and buying his book, my goal last year was, simply, to make sure I was never vit. C or zinc deficient and see if that could prevent me from catching a single common cold. I guess I got sloppy, because I caught that cold on Dec 30th, when I went to the movies. I almost made it!

Maybe there's some weird tropical cold going around down here around the Tropic of Cancer. The worst cold that I can ever remember was the one I caught when I moved here. I can't even explain the pure misery. It was horrible.

Treacle and vinegar is often good if you have a sore throat, cough.....

mutter mutter ... you women and can do more than one thing at a time - NOT walking down the stairs whilst texting ! - luckily she was close to the bottom - fingers crossed it's just a shaking up and the back WON'T start playing up ....

I dont think that has anything to do with gender. I live in a university town, and I can't tell you the number of things college students - both male and female - think they can multi-task with texting. Driving, running, and commercial transacting are among my favorites. I've actually seen a guy run smack into a lampost trying to text while running.
