What I do is get my library and collections ready to go without my ereader connected. Then I plug in, sync and disconnect. I wish I could leave it connected and let it USB charge for awhile... But, the auto-sync is just too annoying especially when you have a lot of books and collections.

I do the same thing.

At least for now, I'll just live with auto-sync. I really don't want to delete everything that's been sync'd by Reader Library and have to manually transfer each book from computer to reader and then set up each book in its appropriate Collection within the reader.

Maybe later I'll try again to learn Calibre and delete Reader Library from my computer.

Thanks for all the help. I'm sure glad I found this forum!!!

One of my favorite things about sync is that it will keep the books in Collections on the reader in whatever order they're in on the Sony software.

Not always. On my PRS-600, it would occasionally reorder the books in some seemingly random order.

So now I use Calibre, where I can setup explict orders of books.

I beg to differ. If you're seeing the books in "random" order, it's because in the Library the collection isn't set to the correct sorting.

I had this out-of-order syncing happen one time recently. I was quite surprised by it. I'm pretty sure I caused it somehow by something I did in calibre that corrupted the collection syncing. Typically syncing is flawless for me. I have all my collections sorted to my preferences (in an order which would seem random to anyone else!), and it's one of my favorite features of the Sony software.

Same here.

I once messed it up by having Calibre and the Sony Library both transferring books during the same session, but I never blamed the software for that one.

Sorry, but in my case I had my collections with books ordered in them the way I wanted. And synched many times without trouble. Then all of a sudden, I synched and all the collections were reordered.

I took the time to put them in the proper order, and all was well for a while, then again, after a synch, all the collections were again, no longer in the order I placed them.

I 1) turned off synch, and 2) when I got my 650, switched to Calibre.
