White K3 will not take 3.0.3 update?

I returned to the Kindle after a stint with the Sony Pocket Reader.

Last night, I downloaded the 3.0.3 file from Amazon.com and placed it on the reader. After disconnecting the cable, the "update your kindle" is still grayed out.

It's a US version with 3g. I made sure I downloaded the correct file.

I have also rebooted the Kindle, tried several more times, and the option to update is still grayed out. I had a graphite in the past and this worked just fine.

Wonder if there is a reason the white model will not take the update?

It worked for me, and I have a white Kindle. Something else must be going on. I would try re-downloading the file.

The white Kindle 3 is the same as the graphite Kindle 3 in terms of hardware and software.

What firmware version are you on at the moment? If its 3.0.2 (553210206) then its a known issue and you have to wait for Amazon to make a new version of 3.0.3 or release a 3.0.4.
