Free wireless is probably better than free food.

Depends on the food. Also depends on if you have a Droid X

Free wireless is usually better than free food, as cheap easy wireless is easier to obtain than cheap easy (and still good) food!

I joined a new CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) this year, and I picked up my first 1/4 share weekly box (suitable for one person) today. I think I'm really going to like this one because it's a multi-farm one, which can give a little more variety. It's still pretty early in the season, but this is what I got. Just finished eating a baked sweet potato, collard greens, and some brown rice. Yum! They also offer add-ons, and I got the cheese add-on today -- natural rind cheddar and mild goat cheese. OMG the goat cheese is so good I just had to put it out of sight to stop eating it!

Wow, I'm jealous. I can't even find a place to buy fresh eggs here (in season, of course).

That looks yummie!
The "green store" has the same kind of thing but their veg and fruit always looks so bad. I know that it will never look as good as fruit and veg that has been treated with pesticides but yuk. I might check if the new green store has this, their products look much better (plus the owner is much nicer).

That fruit'n'veg looks beautiful, Betty! Today I needed green tomatoes, small cucumbers, leek and green cucumbers. Guess what the local supermarket didn't have any of? (It's petty of me to complain, of course. The shortages are not due to bad stock control, but the damage and demand and supply problems from the floods).

Anyway, what am I doing? Well, I'm wondering if, with an iLiad and an iPad, I need the 6" Kindle 3G wiffy (are they just calling it the Kindle 3?). It's a hypothetical wonder, of course, because I pulled the trigger on the buy last night (that and the apple-green lighted case). It's purely for research purposes - I might be buyin' one for me mum.

Cheers,
Marc

I am sitting here sweating after (finally) doing something useful. The rubbish bin is now full of dead and some live golden cane fronds. Geeze I hate that bluddy 80's relic (modesty plant between our pool stairs and next door upstairs verandah!). It is so hard to get the dead ones off you end up cutting them and then poking your eye out on the stumps whilst hunting for more!

That looks very nice. At our local Green Store I had such a box for a time. I got a lot of carrots though, these big ones, so I quit. Must be a kind of surprise-present each week, or can you look on their webside to see what's in the next box? I also just love goat- cheese.

That looks great ! I love fresh-out-of-the-garden vegetables that haven't been treated with pesticides. Maybe it's me but I do taste a difference in flavour. Lucky for me my parents have their own HUGE vegetable garden, I just take everything I need from them

that pretty much holds true for me as well except for during Basic Training (simply impossible), and on technical rock climbs where we actually roped into the rock overnight, just not a good mix. I did always sacrifice to bring a book backpacking though. my friends always thought I had a screw or 3 loose

I SO love frogs legs! and schnecken! and!!! oh *sigh*! bringing my kids back from Germany was so difficult! they had always eaten like proper little German children. trying to explain that frog legs and snails are not available at the local restaurant is pretty difficult!

our local food alliance is really growing and becoming an influential entity here. I joined quite some time ago when it looked like a lost cause. we now even have pushed through permissions for backyard chickens in the local cities! I haven't eaten anything other than local meat, chicken and fish for 5 years other than traveling and in restaurants. more and more of the independent restaurants are now also making a point of serving as much local as possible

I think I am getting chickens this spring ;o). the local butcher and green store both carry local eggs and milk. the milk is still WAY too high! 6 bucks a quart is over the top!

when I did that, you got an email 3 or 4 days ahead of time and you could make 2 or 3 substitutions as well as having a couple of "never-evers"

No, that wasn't possible. The other reason I quit, besides the big carrots, was that they imported beans or pears from all over the world, to put in that box. And I also got receipies with instructions like " put the carrots in the oven for 60 minutes'. At that point I realized that 'green vegetables' isn't the same as 'environment-friendly'.
