Mine says 1 piece for 16 ouncs of water. The Rishi website I looked at gives instructions of 2-3 grams for a pot with the bricks being larger then that.

I posted this at Kindle Boards and thought I would post it here as well. Honestly, I am not concerned with getting anything back but don't want to see tea go to waste. Anything that is not a sample is in the 2.5 - 3 gram amount. All of them have been opened and tried, I used two teaspoons from each bag, but then taped shut. So one bag would be enough to make about 20 cups.

It is first come first serve. Send me a PM with what you would like and an address and I will send them out.

OK teas I have to send out or swap. It's a long list...

All are from Lupicia. I like the idea of the grab bags and have a feeling that if TG did them I would have a higher hit rate.

To me earthy, in terms of flavors, it is the one underlaying in greens that are rich in potassium (K) like chards, spinaches and the like. It is particularly intense in beets.

Prof, you are very right, earthy is not grassy, not at all. You used it for one of yours oolongs, not long ago. I intend to search for that flavor in mine, but I have not had the occasion yet.

Good night to everyone east of Greenwich meridian.

When I visited Tea House Emporium's tearoom in Bath, they had far too many teas on the list and I knew I had only one or two opportunities before I go home. Looked through the list and pointed my finger at Pu-Erh. Said to my wife: Let's try it. I know about black, green, blue and white teas but recently NBTea got a new section of Pu-Erh. I have never heard of it and have no blooming idea what it is. It is the best opportunity to try something new when it is done professionally. So we tried. The first sip was odd. I cannot say I disliked it but it was very unusual. Looks like black tea but the smell? (a friend told me it smells of fish to her ) and flavour was like nothing I have tried. Maybe even a bit unpleasant? repulsing? But we had a whole pot to experiment and were not in hurry to leave, so we took our time. By the end of the third cup (this was a real cup, 150ml, not a mug ) I thought I like it. I like its weirdness. We bought 100gr pack the next day.

For the first two-three days it tasted very odd. I was not entirely sure whether I love it but it just so happened that I drunk it after meals, sometimes good meals and when drunk Pu-Erh I experienced a new feeling. Even if I had a heavy meal and my stomach was heavy and...I felt heavy..drinking Pu-Erh made me feel better. Right on the spot. As if it dissolved fat and other things and made me feel lighter and better. The heaviness in the stomach would disappear.
Time for RTFM!
Googled and found out that it is considered to be one of the best teas for digestive system. Rare tea with some organisms in it, akin to kefir but different of course.
My point is? I read about its positive effects on the stomach after I felt them myself without prior knowledge thus I have not been influenced by theory.
Since then it is my favourite after dinner tea and sometimes after lunch
My wife loves it for the same things, so both of us want to explore it. Pu-Erh usually comes in bricks or cakes. We have drunk only loose tea so far.
It is a rare thing when I enjoy a drink/food and it is healthy too

Get Well soon, so you can laugh your socks off when kindlekitten decapitates me avatar

Sounds very odd. I have never heard of it before and just googled a little bit to find out it is a jelly tea...odd indeed

A cup of Assam Mangalam.
Invigorating stuff!
Haha I didn't actually tell her hopefully she sees this post she'll go crazy trying to find your post

When the sun in the morning
Peeps over the hill,
And kisses the roses 'round my windowsill
Then my heart fills with gladness
When I hear the trill
Of the birds in the treetops on Mockin' Bird Hill

Sun's up... me too... big mug of Yorkshire tea to start the day off right!

Not bad earthy but similar to how Sencha and Bancha have a more grassy taste to them, Pu-erh have a more earthy taste to them. It is like you can tell something about the region that they are grown in based on the flavor of the tea.
Nice description, Prof! I've tried a few over the years, mostly bought in Chinese food markets, but so far haven't been too happy with them. I will say that I've never bought the molded balls or cakes though... Perhaps I'll give them a try. I need to get some Chinese Dark soy sauce this week so I'll be at a shop that has the Pu-erh in molded form. I'll letcha know how I fare!

LOL! Just the opposite for me. At the time, Amarillo was the smallest town I ever lived in! It was also the first time I really noticed the devastation brought upon small towns by shopping malls opening on the outskirts of town. The downtown area had boarded up storefronts making up 50% of the business district! Everything had moved out to the malls.

Tea just doesn't last long enough in my cup! One would think that using a one liter stein would be sufficient, but it seems I always need to refill it once or twice. On to cup #2... this time some Assam.

Astra, I have to agree with her descriptions. I can taste 'earthy.' If you've ever spent a lot of time riding horses, you know the taste of earth. Just as if you ski you know the taste of snow, or roller blade and you know the taste of asphalt.

My only hope is that when I do drink Pu-erh tea, I don't have to deal with the pain of eating earth, snow, or asphalt, nor spend the money needed for dental repair!

Apricot green tea from Adagio. Very good green tea flavor, not a lot of apricot, but it doesn't need a lot (for a change).

Jessica Park sent me a new to me tea site, Tea Forte. She says all the flavored teas she's tried from them have been very strongly flavored, so I might give them a try. And I'm drooling, drooling, over their teaware. Some gorgeous pieces.

Back to old habits: double cappuccino. I've tried people, but I just can't function without my coffee in the morning

No need to change if that's your preferred drink. We Teaists happily share our space with those who's oral pleasures take a different turn. The name of the game is 'keeping the tongue happy!'

I know, it's the things I'm supposed to be doing while it's changing that I'm not exactly looking forward to.

I wouldn't say it's my preferred drink, I like the taste of tea a lot more than the taste of coffee. I just can't seem to wake up without a strong dose of caffeine in the morning It's all in my head, at least that's what my brother always tells me

That being said: a cup of Chinese Blossom tea

Don't you worry; the peace of mind you get from a good cup of coffee is beneficial for your stomach.

In my cup: cold Arabica-coffee and a bottle of water.
