I was debating this with wife past weekend.
She has a preference I do have a different one (will tell mine once the poll is almost over, lol) Do you prefer your cooking books in electronic or regular paper format? |

I have qualms about using my Touch (or laptop) in the kitchen because it's a lot more expensive to replace one of those if something happens to it than to replace a paper cookbook.

I don't want to spill stuff on my e-reader, paper will dry out.

I don't need any cookbooks in e-format because I have tons and tons of e-recipes already, filed in my email (I belong to another message board that is about sharing recipes). When I want to make one, I print it out and it can get dirty in the kitchen and then I throw it out. I ALSO have two huge shelves full of cookbooks, many in hardcover, that I enjoy browsing through and cooking from. These two things (recipes on my computer, pbook cookbooks) are serving me well, so I can't think of any reason to put cookbooks on my ereader. Plus I would not want to use the touchscreen after putting my hands in a bowl of raw meat.

I like to browse through my cook books and cooking magazines, read a recipe here and another one there, look at the pictures - and then decide what I want to cook/eat.
I would not get the same pleasure out of looking through recipes on a reader - so my kitchen is an ereader-free zone (the only one ![]() |

Neither -- I like cooking APPS. I see a trend in this already. I have Jamie Olivers and Mario Batelli's apps and the videos are fantastic. Cooking "books" fall into the category where there is SO much more opportunity than just having the words/pictures of the paper book appear on a screen.

I use my Kindle for cookbooks, just put it in a ziplock bag to keep it pristine. (Also use the Kindle for knitting patterns, too.)

I have several e-cookbooks. While I do prefer printed cookbooks (especially ones with nice color photos!), I have used my Kindle in the kitchen several times -- inside a plastic bag so I won't get any food on it.

I could see getting one from the library, and copying down particularly interesting recipes, but to use it during cooking, not really.
