Rooting - I may be turning to the dark side

So I've had my NC for about a month now. I have been extremely pleased with it. It is so much more than I anticipated. My wife calls my NC my "second wife" as I'm reading on it all the time now.

In fact, a few days ago I stated on the rooting poll I wasn't ever going to do it, but the more I read up on rooting, the more interesting it appears...I may be turning to the dark side...

So my questions:

The only big negative, I undestand, is that you can no longer do the free 1 hour reading in store. Anything else?

It appears that there is much to be gained (better web surfing, better PDF support, better word/excell support, games, tons of cool aps) for minimal loss in my mind.

But I want to make sure...

- Do I still have the same ability to purchase books , magazines at BN via the "store" link the nook has built in?

- Do I still read books the same way (no need to dowload a new ap), or do I need to dowloand the BN android ap to read my books now?

That is the only known drawback. Nook hackers are looking for a workaround.

Yes, so long as you register the device before it's rooted. If you degregister the device while it is rooted you will not be able to register it again. However you can always resort to using the Android B&N App

Yes the nook apps work the same way.
After it is rooted the device looks identical with a few extra apps added in the "extras" folder.

The first thing I did however since I don't like the nook launcher is to install my own. I use ADWLancher and Zeam.

The only other thing to note is that you have to do a very small workaround to use the open book icon at the bottom of your screen in order to get back to your last book read every time you reboot. (Basically flipping back to your B&N homepage after opening a book if you're using an alternate home launcher.)

What is the advantage to ADW if you don't mind me asking. Is that one better then dolphin? There seems to be several different launchers...

See, I am getting so confused by all the goodies! lol Keyboards, browsers, launchers... oye vey! Well wish me luck... I really want to do this! Nice to know there are people here who can set me right if I screw up! (Kind of like having a big safety net!)
