And with the Galaxy Tab, you can put if under your arm, like a book, and keep walking. You cannot with an iPad. Just kidding ...

naw, 3G with color data is going to cost but as long as you can do it ala carte then that is awesome. I'm not the biggest Apple fan, but they did it right with the pricing of the iPad, that is for sure.
Samsung and American Wireless carries botched this great product up with it's stupid pricing and even crazy pricing plans.
They seem to get the message now but at the rate these devices are evolving it might be tad bit too late.

I don't have any 3G/4G devices. WiFi hotspots are plentiful and satisfy my needs for my net devices (netbook, Nook Color, Kindle 3, iPod touch 4G). On a daily basis, I don't carry any device that has net access. With me always are two devices: my dumb phone and my Sansa Clip+.

Silly that they didn't offer a WiFi only model from the get go.

Stopped by BB to take a look. It says WIFI and 3G but the mobile department proved to me you don't need to setup 3G on the device to get up and running for data access. It starts going through an activation process but he just cancelled it and off he went showing me some features on the unit including internet access. This thing was lightning fast!!

Thus no data plan contract and I can just run Wifi. I'll probably pick one up tomorrow unless he did something to mislead me if you folks can comment on that. He even showed me in the settings it wasn't activated for 3G.

And if I wanted 3G, I am sure he told me you can go month by month besides. So I guess this just reiterates what some others said already in this thread.

Wow, I thought everything was more expensive in the UK? I pay more than those combined for my BB alone, and if I move to an iphone it's more! For me to go with a 3g plan I would be paying about $100/month for both my phone and tablet. Why is everything so expensive up here when the dollar is much better than it was?

Correct, at least that was the same for mine here in USA, Tmobile.

It is just kind of annoying when people becomes passionated about X or Y device just because they have one, without using facts.

True, at least for the T-mobile and At&T models. I don't believe the Verizon and Sprint models have a dual GSM CDMA chipset so getting that unlocked, even if you could would be kind of pointless.

Also for the Other two, even if you unlock, you're probably going to be stuck at edge as the 3G bands are different. Think AT&T used 2100Mhz so that model should work pretty much every where else in the world though.

THats the standard Apple Blutooth keyboard right? Did it work as any standard Keyboard does or did it require a bit of Finessing.

Think apple only has one Bluetooth keyboard model available right now, so probably that.

I'm looking to get a new Bluetooth keyboard but am torn on getting the Apple one as while it will work well with my MBP, iPad and iPhone, I'm not to sure about future compatibility with other PC's and the android tablet I'm considering.

I'm actually looking at getting one of the folding Freedom Keyboards, either the Dual Profile Freedom Pro

or the Single profile Freedom BTFRICON Version 4.0 i-Connect

Anybody have any Experiences with them ?
I have an iGo Stowaway Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Keyboard for PDAs and Handhelds that I bought used. I love it. It folds in half and has an integrated stand that you can use to prop your device up.

I think(?) it might be related to the iConnect, which is why I answered.

Appreciate you chiming in. I actually thought about getting the Stowaway a few years ago but it was already out of production, and as I had no real need at that time could not justify paying the premium, even when bout used.

Part of the reason I'm looking at the iconnect is for the same similarities you noticed. While the reviews on Amazon are generally positive, I tend to take them with a grain of salt as too often people either have an agenda or don't use the product properly.

Yeah, we noticed when we did our review of it, is that all Galaxy Tabs have a Phone number attached to them. In Canada with Rogers, Bell etc, in order to call customer service or billing, they ask you what your phone number is LOL.

There is a way to root the North Ameican version to get voice though, but hardly anyone is doing it. It was disabled by carriers in the north american market.

Probably reasonable to use it as a phone with a headset. I agree - you'd look a bit silly holding it up to your ear .

All 3G devices have a phone number. Eg, a Kindle has a phone number. It serves no purposes except to identify the device to the network.
