Help with Date column

I created a date column set up with month and year format. If I select a date in the column I cannot delete it and make it blank again. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong.

Set the date to 01/01/0101 (1 Jan 0101)

I just type four zeroes like "0000" and hit tab and it resets to undefined.

Running from source, I just noticed that the next release (0.7.41) has a recycle button next to the Published date in the Edit Meta information dialog, which sets the date to 'Undefined'.

That's not working. In the format for the dates I set 01/01/0101. That just puts that date in the column if I try to delete it. Am I doing something wrong or is there no way to make the column blank after accidentally putting a date in?

Follow the other instruction give of typing a year value of 0000.

Thanks. I have the format set to MMMyyyy. I have to go to edit metadata and then I can enter four zeroes and hit tab or enter and it will reset.
