Should I upgrade my Sony PRS-300?

I have had a 300 for about a year. I download library books, buy some and download free ones that look interesting. Recently, I had 103 books and it was full to max, so I had to go and delete ones I knew that I would not really read. I still check out hard copies at the library because alot of books I read are not in ebook format at libraries. I have a $25 credit from Sony for an MP3 player that I am thinking of using on a new digital camera. I have a $50 from a phone that I sent in. Any thoughts? Would you upgrade and to which one? |

I love the new pearl display and the $139 price for the K3. But reading library books is more difficult. Does Sony have a model with that display?

sherbearjt, the Sony 350 has the new eInk pearl screen which is universally considered to be better than the vizplex screen your 300 has. You haven't indicated any real dissatisfaction with what you've got. In my view, one should always wait to upgrade until one is dissatisfied, because the prices are coming down and new models will be introduced. The Sony 350 goes for $150, not including the cover and any extras. With the $75 credit you already have, the 350 would be a good deal. You might also look into the Sony 650 which costs I think $70 more. |

I would upgrade - you get quite a bit of added space for books, and with your coupons you won't be paying much. The dictionaries alone (if you plan on using them) are worth the price, IMO.

Which one - the 350 or the 650, which is out of stock? Is there a huge difference in anyone's opinion? My coupon expires 3/31/11 so I guess I have time!

I think my biggest complaint is the storage capacity not the size. I love the size. I guess I don't need it to play audio files like the 650. I just want to be able to download lots of free books that I might read and not have to delete them so quickly. Looks like 350 might be way to go

If you overlay a 300 on top of 650 with cover you will find they are about the same size. With the 650 you get the bigger screen and when I compared the two side by side the difference between the display screen is huge... You really have to see them side-by-side to appreciate the difference... The 300 is great but the 650 is better in so many regards, i.e. speed of operation, screen... 1.5gb internal storage... Lighter than the 300...Just a little! And I see that they have just become available again at Sony Style... You will not be sorry with the 650. Some have noted that the new 350 is little too small... |

If you got your coupons during the recent sony recycle process, be aware that you can only use one coupon per purchase. I did the same thing; traded in 3 items and was thinking I could use the $130 in coupons combined for a new 350. However, they only let you use one coupon per purchase.

Old argument... recycling, there seem to be two main groups of readers, one lot have an eReader and carry a handful of books being happy to make a choice in advance of whatever they may fancy reading... the other group have an eReader that they want to be an eLibrary so that they can choose what to read when they want to read rather than in advance... the two groups seem incapable of understanding the other's viewpoint The eReader faction could probably get away with half a gig or much less, the eLibrary faction rather like 16GB plus |

I wonder how you fill up the PRS-300 with "only" 100 books? Lots of large PDFs? I have more than 1,000 books on my PRS-300.

Only a few pdfs. I read books with 300 pages or more. I had 104 books and it was only had about 23mb left, which to me was not enough to keep downloading the type of books i like to read. Don't know why the inquiry, but I like to store all my books, not just keep them on the computer.
