Default post when clicking on a topic name

Hi there!

I really would a change in the reaction when clicking on a topic.

Now it is:

You click on a topic you never opened before and you go to the first post.

You click on a topic you have opened before and you go the... first post.

D*mn. Go back and find this tiny little blue square.... there, click it.... D*mn, I missed it. Go back again... ah, finally!!

...Wait, what was the topic? (a "little" exaggerated description).

And I would like it:

You click on a topic you have opened before and you go to the last unread post.

My reasoning:

In 99,9% of the time I want to go to the last unread post in a visited topic, and not to the first one. And I automatically click on the topic name...

If I want to go to the first page, there is the page count on the right. And the square could be reprogrammed to lead to the first post instead?
...

Any chances of it happening?

Click on the user name under the 'last post' and you will go to the last post in the thread ...

Thanks, I didn't know that.

Edit: I just tested it: You have to click the small blue square right to the name. Otherwise you go to the person's profile. Which is essentially as hard as clicking the small blue square on the left side of the screen.

You are correct, the arrow by the user name

I agree, that works, but I thought he wanted it to go to the last post that HE read, not the last one posted, right? So if he hasn't read the thread in a couple of days, he would still miss anything posted between then and the actual last post.

You can go to the first post past the one you have last read by clicking the little box by the thread title.

What I wanted to discuss is the possibility of "switching links" between the blue square and the topic name, because:

If I haven't read the topic at all, I will go to the first post using the "first unread post" link.

If I have read the topic before, I rarely want to visit the first post, but this is what happens when I click the thread topic. I have to click on the small blue square (in 99% of the times) and I would find it easier, if I had to click this square in the 1% of the times I actually want to read the first post in a 10 / 15 / 345 / 1530 pages-thread.

Golly! I never noticed the little blue box beside the words "View First Unread"... Those three words link to the same place (doh!) and are a much bigger target!

But yeah, I like your idea; it would usually avoid an extra page load...

Sorry, my mistake! I never paid any attention to that little blue box to the left in the thread list. I just click on the thread name, wait for the page to load, then find the 'view first unread' right above the first post...

OK, I want the change LCF wants, too!!! Make the thread name (as well as the little blue box) in the thread list point to the first unread.

I certainly would not want both entries to point to the next unread page. Often I want to go to the first post since many times it contains an entry that is updated. This is especially true if the thread contains a software program. Updated posts do not show up as unread. I could go along with switching the roles of the two clicks.
