Man, I'm super duper busy today. Getting ready to visit my parents, I have 10 minutes to drink my cup of pure peppermint tea ...
Apparently I'm really clumsy today as well, just broke my Brita :sniff: Last edited by Iridal; 01-15-2011 at 08:29 AM. |

Good luck! Is it writing or speaking? If the former, take a chocolate bar with you. They say it boosts you brains. Later breakfast with a cup of English Breakfast tea (Tea House Emporium). |

Freshly made tradition Turkish-style coffee with a personal twist, I like my iced so I make it, then shake it in ice poor it in my 20-oz mug and add some stevia to sweeten it a bit then a splash of iced cold unsweetened-unflavored soy milk (can't have bovine dairy) I make this pretty much every AM or during warm months I do make it the night before though the flavor of the spices tends to dull overnight, still it's a fine tasty beverage.
I mix it up with some iced chai tea made pretty much the same way but very, very strong. Using the stevia to sweeten and the unflavored-unsweetened soy milk makes for a MUCH lighter beverage. Of course when I need the added, errr, motivation, I use hot coffee to get everything moving so-to-speak. ![]() I drink about 2-3 pots of coffee or tea almost every day. I was surprised to learn from my doc that people who really drink a lot of coffee tend to actually have better cardiovascular health. It sort of makes sense as the darker roasts actually have less caffeine. Weirdly I am also not addicted to caffeine either as I often lose the enjoyment for weeks at a time when I decide to move to fresh lemonade...I know, it's weird!! ![]() |

Today I'm free from water drinking. Tomorrow again: I know it's good and I drink not enough.

Black coffee in my cup.
I think it used to be more common here than it is now to drink black coffee. Now, with all the coffee shops around, people are more likely to order some sort of "coffee drink," not just a cup of coffee. As for tea, it is VERY unusual to see anyone order anything other than iced tea here. The exception is in Chinese restaurants, where you still get the pot of Jasmine tea and the little thick-walled cups. I've never seen anybody put sugar in those, though, Stitchawl. I drink my tea like I do my coffee -- nothing added. |

You mentioned Turkey and it reminded me of something.
I am very curious how I would like Turkish tea now when I brew the proper teas myself. I could not stop drinking it, when we stayed for two weeks in a resort in Turkey, August 2009. In small glasses, similar to the Glencairn whisky glass. I didn't care for all the free alcoholic, it was very unusual experience. |

![]() These days I only use sugar when cooking, and even then, very little. Every once in a blue moon I'll mix up some lime juice, lemon juice, ice, and water and add a sweetener to that, but it's usually gum syrup rather than sugar. That's the usual sweetener here for cold drinks. Stitchawl |

I hate to admit it, but I'm pretty sure I don't even have any sugar in the house. (That shows how little I cook, right?

when I started out drinking tea as a young teen and the only black tea I was ever served was liptons, then I used cream and sugar. now I consider that tea abuse. all black teas I drink straight. occasional green or white teas beg for just a hint of sweetness and I usually comply with a bit of honey. I actually have one white tea that is better with a tiny bit of raw sugar. lemon goes in iced black tea! |
