I picked up a case of Bell's Hopslam and am thrilled. This is a limited release beer from Bell's, a Craft Brewery in Michigan. Right now there is a high enough demand that you can only get one six pack per person at all the stores in our area. I had friends from work call in and get on the list.

My favorite ale, aside from Guinness, is Old Peculiar!

I do enjoy Guinness but Hopslam is something special.

My first night in Milan I went to the Bar Magenta. I ordered a large Guinness. The bartender looked at me, a 20 year old American kid, and said that I didn't want that but he would give me something I would like. I insisted on a large Guinness. He bet me that I couldn't finish said drink in 10 minutes. If I did, my beer for the evening was on him. He poured the Guinness, I slammed it in 30 seconds. I drank well that night.

Whenever I travel, the first thing I look for in a new city is a pub/bar with Guinness on tap! Always focus on the essentials!

heheh I have taken to looking to find Bell's on tap. We served a lot of beer at our wedding. When the bartender saw me drinking Bell's Two Hearted River, he set aside a couple of six packs for me.

Brewed a cup of Golden Yunnan - very nice! Lighter on my palate than the Assam, a hint of fruitiness on the back of my tongue. Very mild but flavorful.

Some wonderful wen shen pouchong tea from the highlands of Taiwan - brewed in my very special yixing tea pot. Heavenly brew.

Had to look both of these up (the tea & the tea pot!). Does it taste like an oolong?

Honey lemon rooibos. I've been working outside all day chipping ice, and I'm not used to that kind of physical labor. I came in, turned up the heat, had a nice hot bath, and sat down with my snuggie and my two cats and my steaming cup of tea.

Everything looks much better now.

Or course, on the other hand Lipton's regular, almost anyone's decaf... these work better as compost.

Probably the same with coffees. Some are great. Some are just 'drinkable.' And some are really yucky!

actually saying "it's drinkable" is not fair to the wine. it is quite good and has won more than a few awards

one of things I loved about traveling around Germany was discovering the small breweries and vintners unique to individual little towns

So I tried my first cup of China Pu-Erh Tuocha from tea Gschwendner. It is surprisingly mellow. Very earthy but pretty good. I was expecting something stronger. The 100 gram bag came with 21 Tuos (the ball shaped cake). You brew one Tuo for 16 ounce of water. I am reasonably certain that this will resteep well but I will have to try that tomorrow.

I do think it is something I need to drink with a bit more in my stomach then a little bit of smoked salmon.
