To add my brief experience with lights, I bought a Pathway light from Target. It does a fine job with illumination and uses AA batteries. But I can't close my cover with it on. It's a constant job of putting it on and taking it off and is something extra to have to tote along.
A cover is a must have for me as I take my K3 most everywhere (you never know when a chance to read for a few minutes will pop up.) A light is a nice option that is only occasionally needed. Having it all in one nice package is really convenient. Here's another vote for the lighted Kindle cover. Bought it for my daughter to go along with her K3 Christmas present. Should have bought it for me on the first go 'round. Instead, I tried to go the economy route and bought cheaper, albeit very nice cases and separate book lights. All are being returned and replaced by the lighted K3 cover. False economy on my part. Last edited by speedlever; 01-06-2011 at 12:33 PM. |

I have been asked to repost a reply I made in another thread to this sticky thread.
The cases I bought (and returned) are the Marware Eco-Flip and the JAVOEdge MiMo Book Case. The booklights are the Pathway (Target) and the Might Bright TravelFlex. FWIW, I've only had my K3 for a few weeks... but I've gone through 2 cases and 2 lights... and have returned them all for the lighted Kindle cover. Both cases that I tried were very well made and did the job. But my complaint was that the way the K3 fit into the cases caused a problem for me getting to the right arrow bar. Any case made this way could/may have the same issue and both my cases (from different mfgs) had the same issue. Here's a pic to show what I mean: ![]() Maybe my thumb is too big. But I always had to be careful hitting that right arrow bar because the case material intruded just enough to be in the way. And the light issue: I bought the Pathway light from Target and the Mighty Bright TravelFlex... and returned them both. The Pathway was too large and clunky for my tastes and I couldn't close the case cover with it on. It was always an issue of putting on and taking off the light. I just don't want to dink around with a bunch of gear (I take my K3 all over the place with me). The TravelFlex could have worked, but recognizing that I was going to replace both cases anyway, I figured I might as well get a case that provided no intrusions on the face and had a light, all in one package. And while I don't often need a light, those few times when I do it sure would be nice to have it available if I remember to bring the light along. With it built into the cover like the lighted Kindle cover, I have it all in one nice and neat package. So the lighted Kindle cover is now on its way to me. |

I have had the Kindle 3 for 3 days, and have tried the Target Pathway light clipon and have found it too intense for the top of the screen. I then tried attaching it on a Mead pad which was a few inches higher and that is what I need a few inches away from the reader. However, now I need to attach it to the Mead pad/folder.
I have tried Mighty Brights, and they loose the flexible neck and are worthless after a while. So I may try to velcro the back of the reader to the Mead folder. I got the Mead pad folder at Big Lots for $4. Can't beat that. |

Here's the thing... (personally)... I want a cover for my K3. I want a light for the odd occasion when I need it. I don't want to carry a bunch of paraphernalia around with me. After having two cases and two different lights, I returned them all for the lighted Kindle cover. Now I have it all in one compact package. Yeah, it's pricey. But comparing the cost of a case and a separate light plus batteries, it's about a wash.

M-Edge Cover and Light
Got a Kindle 3 for Christmas. Bought the M-edge Capitol cover and the M-Edge Illuminator 2 light. This is a great combination, the cover protects well, zips shut, and the light is stored inside the cover. To use the light just turn on the switch and bend the arm!

If I don't like the Amazon lighted cover can you return?
I have never returned anything at Amazon.com before. Do they charge you for returning? Any extra charge? I am considering the lighted cover, but am afraid I won't like it, the light may not be moveable, have glare, etc. etc.
Has anyone return because they don't like it? Any hassle? My Pathway light is starting to get on my nerves. It falls off of my book cover (Mead cover). If I put it on the Kindle it glares at the top of the screen. Really bugs me now. |

I have the Pink Lighted Kindle cover. But it makes my Kindle heavier so I have a Mighty Bright Travel light. And yeah the flexibility of the neck is gone now.
So I'm back with the Lighted Kindle cover. I'm hoping I can find a much better one that Solis light look nice...Hmm.. |

The mighty bright travel light was the best, but as you also found the gooseneck no longer works after a while. Who wants to buy a new light every few months, not me. |
