No, it's the tea equivalent of wine sold in boxes. Drinkable.
A lot better than 'Thunderbird,' 'Golden Spur,' or cheap muscatel but not quite up there with a good wine from a known house in a good vintage.

Actually, Lipton Gold Label as loose leaf tea is not a bad drink at all. It's a blend of Ceylon teas, and without a distinct taste of its own. Far better than the Lipton's tea bag sold in the States. I'll go out on a limb and suggest that as there are two different Lipton's, (Lipton, and Lipton Unilever) that there is a big difference in the blending.

I find Assam to be one of the richest of all the black teas, without being too strong, followed closely by China Black. That China Golden Yunnan you received might be right in the same ballpark. The Keemun teas tend to be very very rich but also very very strong, which is why they so often get used as part of a blend, though I like 'em straight.
So far, Assam and Keemun are my favourites. Which one I drink depends on my mood, time of the day, but mostly on my taste buds and stomach
I give them a choice, they confer and let me know in no uncertain terms which one they prefer. They give me difficult time only when they disagree with each other.

Please, Geoff, if I'm to brazen/ forward you must tell me: but what is the name of the cat on your avatar? Such a sweet face, a bit like our Polly.

In my cup: tapwater

That is Oscar - our largest male, looks in some ways like a cuddly bear, his fur is soft and sticks out from the body.

From some angles his face is reminiscent of a cougar...

Lupicia's Strawberry Vanilla. It is ok, not something I would buy but something I can see a strawberry lover enjoying.

I like strawberries but I can't taste the tea so it is not my cup of tea. (winks)
