See the gift bags 2.5 ounces of 17 teas plus 40 tea bags for 80 bucks. That is a pretty good deal. If TG did something like this I would probably order more of the gift bags because I trust that I will find more teas that I really like from TG.

And tastes good too.
I will definitely investigate oolong teas after I finish with green samples. This particular one is very nice. It is also differs from others. Reminds slightly white teas, but I think I like it more than white because its flavour is more...what is the word...outstanding? pronounced? underlined? |

Oolongs and White teas are more expensive. I look at it this way. I pay $18 for a really good Oolong tea. I am going to get about 50 servings of tea from that 2 ounce order. It works out to $0.36 a serving. That is perfectly reasonable.
I sometimes look at the total of my TG order and go "wow". Then I remember that I will not be placing another order for about 3-6 months, dependent on the time of year, how much other tea I have to play with, and how much tea I consume due to changes in weather. So that $160 is spread out over a minimum if 3 months which is about $53 a month. That is a lot less then my Hubby spends on his diet coke habit and I can pretend that my tea is going to help decrease my long term health care costs. |

I have a related question for you, now. How do you store your loose leaf teas? Am I going to have to go looking for tins? I know UV light can damage taste/quality of loose leaf teas, so storing them in my present clear acrylic containers that I already have for assorted other things won't work. |

I do use tins but if I were to it over again I would get one large air tight cannister and store the tea in the bags it is sent in in that cannister.
The tins look nice until you add new labels or change labels. The Tape and stickers just don't look all that great. They are a bit more organized in the tins then in one large air tight container but it would be worth it to save the money on the tins. |

For now I'm putting my opened sample bags into Zip-Loc freezer bags inside a cabinet. This seems to keep them fresh. I'm waiting to see how many teas I actually want to stock up on in quantity before I invest in air-tight containers.

The nice thing about air tight containers is that they can be used for many things other then tea storage. (winks)

New question.. measurements. How many cups of tea out of 2 ounces of loose tea? 4 ounces? 100 grams? I'm gathering most sites recommend 1 teaspoon tea leaves to 6 oz. water, but my cup is twice that size, LOL .
