Funny you should say that! Right before Christmas I found Yaktrax on sale at one of the discount stores, and I didn't buy them. I was thinking this morning that I sure wish I had! I'd go buy them now, except: (1) Can't get the car out of the driveway; (2) Can't get there anyway, and (3) The store isn't open.

I was a cougar [so to speak] for 3 years - by then they had given up keeping a live cougar on campus but still had his pen there for fans to visit.

What I'll always treasure are 2 memories:
1. Everything was on a hill! Everything!
2. The campus dairy bar that sold home-made cheese & ice cream!

Oh - and the year Mount St. Helens blew its top = the year I moved away!

Found the crampons (thank you KK for reminding me) - got out - cracked ice off the steps with a shovel, cracked ice off both cars, stomped around on driveway with crampons to crack the ground ice.

This is "sticky" ice from freezing rain - coated everything and won't let go!
At least we can get the cars out if we have to.

Back to snow covered ground here as well. Only about half an inch, though, if that. Still snowing, but not bad enough to slow anything down.

Yay! We're above freezing (although probably for the last time this week ) and I got my car chipped out! I was smarter than some of my neighbors -- I didn't clean the snow off yesterday during the freezing rain, so it all froze on TOP of the snow. I was able to just crack the top layer all over the car and slide it off. The people that cleaned the snow off yesterday had glaze ice all over their cars, and that is much harder to get off.

The roads around my house are filled with deep slushy ice, so if I needed to get out right now I could. Oh, how I wish they would come and push all this stuff off the road while it is soft, but no, that won't happen. So tomorrow it'll be hard frozen again. At least it'll be a broken frozen surface, though!

According to the weather channel (who are more often wrong than right) we're going to get 10-15cm of snow between this afternoon and tomorrow morning.

Last year we didn't get ANY snow and now we're about to have our 2nd snow storm for this winter.

Can't wait to see what my van will look like in the morning

it feels like the mercury is plunging here. we are supposed to get snow this afternoon. yesterday they were telling people to try to come home early tonight, I think they have backed off on that somewhat. now I get to venture out

It's the same in our town. The city didn't do a thing about the snow and all came to a stand-still. Cars crawling along the roads, practically no bikes or pedestrians.
I do hope you'll be able to go out again, but take care.

I have only now clocked in!

I have come to the conclusion that we should all be able to hibernate until this rotten weather passes.

Anyone care to explain global warming again? I am confused about it all.....
which is my normal state of mind.
