I guess they have different paws. Maybe they know how to use their claws to hang on to the ice?

my pond froze over a couple of weeks ago and I had the kitties out in their harnesses. Strider didn't want to have a thing to do with the ice but Arwen went out on it. she was slipping around a great deal. never actually fell, but there was a great deal of slipping and sliding!

I have those for Pi, my Newfoundland for doing search and rescue work in the snow. Newfies have a lot of fur on the pads of their paws and between the toes, it is very easy for them to form ice balls which is fairly annoying and kind of painful for them. these help a LOT! they also come in handy if for some reason we have to be on blazing hot asphalt for a long period of time

The slippers do seem practical for use in the snow - which we very, very rarely see here. They will come in useful here for the blazing asphalt. Do your "slippers" have rubber bottoms? The ones that my in-laws got don't, hence the slipping and sliding.

We keep trying to get some 'chains' to attached to shoes/boots - but unsurprisingly they are often out of stock .... [Yaktrax]

I'm sitting at home inside watching the ice not melt.

I started out to spread "Ice Melter" pellets on the steps - but my foot shot out to one side so I retreated. Will try again later (in my Wellies) to spread the stuff. Not sure it will do a lot of good with temps below freezing.

yep, they are like the skid proof slipper socks with little rubber boots. be careful with pups slipping and sliding like that. torn ACLs on dogs are a lot more common injury than people realize

I do have a pair of these - somewhere in the closet - will dig them out today if humanly (or chickenly) possible. I lived in Pullman, WA for 3 years - and grew to appreciate the ability to remain upright while walking on ice.
