				Miracle Pill

I'm currently reading an excellent "new" approach to slimming and staying slim. I put "new" in quotes because I guess nothing's really new in the diet world. However, Tres Hatch's approach is fresh and new to me. And she does a wonderful job in her book, Miracle Pill: 10 Truths to Healthy, Thin, & Sexy. She also has an amazing story to tell.

I'm continuing in my noir mode - reading James M. Cain's "Double Indemnity" - quite different from the movie in many aspects. As I read I can hear Fred MacMurray's deadpan voice doing the voice-overs.

I just finished reading The Five Gospels: What Did Jesus Really Say? The Search for the Authentic Words of Jesus by Robert W. Funk, Roy W. Hoover, and The Jesus Seminar, which I would have completed over a year ago had it been an e-book instead of an over-sized 576 page paperback. Such formats may smell better, but they're heavy, tiresome to hold for long reading sessions, and can't compete with the convenience of an ereader. And while the color-coded text makes it not quite a good fit for B&W readers, this is one that would do well on color readers such as the NookColor or the iPad.

Sadly, he announced "last" on his blog a while back. He's working on a YA at the moment. He has said he is considering another Lou/Mason book. Hopefully if he decides to write one the publisher will be behind him!!!

I think we (perhaps not you and I) have had this discussion before in the "What's the last ebook you bought" thread. "Last" does not also have to mean "final" or "ultimate". Quote:
