Darkened fonts

Is the darkening function realized through firmware? Or it is only possible on the pearl screen?

You could install other (darker) fonts such as those used for Kindle (PMN Caecilia 75). As far as I have read the original Kindle font PMN Caecilia 65 is not available...

You can find it on the Internet for download. Once downloaded just install it in the folder "system/fonts" of your device. You can enable it in the settings.

It is.
Just have a look at the discussion here in Kindle Forum and find package with fonts ready to install to Kindle ;-)

thanks!!kacir and sirius!

I also see that some epub files can not be openend with the fbreader (that have the option to change the fonts) and need to be opened with adobeviewer.

When I try to select an epub file to open with fbreader, that wating indicator starts, then screen refresh and saty in the same screen (for example on the library loaction where I am trying to seletc which reader to use)

Any thoughts about this issue?

thanks!

I didn't pose the question clearly. What I really wanted to ask is if it is possible to darken the letters in pdf files by developing new firmwares for pocketbook.

It is possible. pdfviewer actually does something like that, as it doesn't handle grays anywhere near how AdobeViewer does. Source is also available for pdfviewer so it could be modified. That said, I don't know if it really is intentional what it does or how it should be implemented. I only noticed the behaviour where it hurt legibility.

Thank you LoneTech. Glad to hear pdfviewer can modify the intensity of color of the words in pdf files. Does it also work in scanned files?
