No worries. It was a perfectly reasonably question. Caution can be a good thing. And I think that the iliad would make a better roofing tile than a brick

Hi,
how do you make it to run from iLiad Content Lister? I wrote my first iLiad "Hello World" but it wouldn't run from Content Lister. I have to execute it in other ways.

Hi there,
I've downloaded your application, but I don't seem to be able to get the files contained in the zip file down onto my iLiad.

Is there something I'm missing?

Edward

Page 3 of the Settings controls which "card" is exported. You don't want internal memory, but instead choose one of the external media (I use a CF card). Connect the iLiad to your desktop using USB. It should show up in the same way as a USB memory stick. Now copy the emelfm2 directory and all its contents to the USB filesystem (under Windows, I use right click and cut on the directory, right click and paste on the USB device). If you intend to install several applications, then put them all in (say) a Programs directory on the card.

iRex update, then emelFM2 stops working

A new iRex iLiad upgrade was installed this morning (2/8/2008) and now the emelFM2 utility no longer works.

The iRex update is 2.12

I have been using this utility for months now and it is the main means by which I transfer files to and from the iLiad, so it is extremely valuable to me. Connecting the iLiad to my Vista system is been nothing but painful, so this is an important functionality to have available.

Suggestions?

Jim

I was able to launch it fine without any problems.

Have you requested developer (SHELL) access again after you've installed the update?

This app looks great, almost like my favorite TotalCommander on PC. Wow!

If only I could get the user manual... The emelFM2.net is, unfortunately, quite useless as it refers to keyboard clicks. I could not figure out how to change into a folder. Clicking on "Help" icon and then on "view" to view the USAGE file produced error. Is there an iLiad-ported pdf manual for it? Thank you in advance.

File manager rubbish

Well, I took the posted advice and extracted the file manager zip file to a folder in the internal memory. The emelFM2 icon showed up, I tapped it, and NOTHING. No program started. I've tried this several times.

Thanks for nothing. I am totally unix ignorant, so if you have to be a unix/linux geek to get it working then forget it!

What a waste of half an hour.

Errrr...

I have now. There is my ignorance for all to see. Thanks Wallcraft, you've been mighty helpful on several occasions now.

I can run the file manager and it's fine. One thing, though - I went to Settings and changed the icons to icons + text. Fine. But now I can't find the Settings button anymore! It's gone from the bottom toolbar, and is not in Rest - only the Quit button appears.

Where's it gone?

Thanks again, and apologies for maligning the developer. The ignorance is all mine.

It's back!

Settings reappeared after I quit and restarted the program. Weird.

BTW, another question (sorry!). I've installed FBReader and am trying to follow your instructions for loading the mono fonts. You say:

a) On the CF card, goto _local\share\pixmaps\
b) Rename the directory FBReader to (say) FBReader_orig
c) unzip mono-32, and copy directory FBReader into _local\share\pixmaps\ on the CF card
d) Reinstall the CF card on the iLiad

For the life of me I can't find _local\share\pixmaps\ on my CF, whether via an iLiad-PC connexion or a card reader. All I've got are my archive folders and the Program folder containing FBReader. (emelfm2 is in the internal memory.)

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks - I owe you a beer if you're ever in the UK.

Sorry again!

Oh dear, Wallcraft, I am being a nuisance. I just realized I needed to run FBR for the first time before the other folders are created. Now I've got them, I should be able to install the new mono icons.

Thank you, and I promise next time to try harder by myself before bothering other people.
