rude??? You gotta be kidding me! Pointing out that someone's post doesn't help to the discussion is not rude in my opinion.

If you want to read rude posts, read through the Apple related forums.

I haven't a clue as to why her Custom User Title reads "Suspended," but it doesn't necessarily mean MR suspended her account. It could just as easily mean that she decided to take a break from MR threads and forums for a while. I certainly wouldn't blame her for taking a vacation from MR.

SCION is an asset to this community and I hope she gets her butt back here soon. :-) I have to return my Nookcolor tomorrow and replace it with a new one, so I'm going to have to start the rooting access all over again.

I'm glad we can still find her on the official BN boards (I've seen her there too), but it's not the same since we can't discuss rooting over there.
Come to think of it, *some* posters who are adamantly against rooting might find bn.com a much better fit.

I think Scion and Rockdaman both got suspended for getting into it over here:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...=114387&page=3

There's a few more of us knowledgeable techies here...hopefully we can fill in for SCION until (if) the mods let her come back.

I also hope to see Scion back as soon as possible. She is a tremendous asset to this board. I've been on many forums where people have been suspended or kicked off, and these people are typically trolls with no social skills who try to inflame or antagonize people.

Scion definitely does NOT fit into that category. She's been unfailingly helpful for people with questions. One of her best qualities is that she's been really cool with newbies, encouraging and giving patient advice.

Actually, all the childish back and forth between SCION and various members was beginning to turn me away from reading this board. While I won't argue the fact that she was helpful, I found it annoying that she was posting in each and every thread, at times contributing nothing to a thread other than adding a smiley or jump on someone who had a thought that was different than hers.

It's one thing to be helpful and enthusiastic about a subject, but there's no need to argue on these internet community boards or any benefit to always have to get the last word in.

<sadness> She is the main reason I went out to root my NC. I hope she comes back.

Have to agree with bigbrothad. There was definitely some schoolyard bantering going on. Hadn't seen the like since middle school. And being extremely helpful doesn't make someone some sort of sacred cow who has the right to call out posters who don't fall in line. It may not have been overtly obvious to some, but maybe the moderators sensed where things were heading.

I miss SCION too.

..I guess with the holidays I missed all the brewha. I guess most of it must have been edited out of that "bricking thread". I've read lots of notes by scion and found her to be knowledgeable and helpful. I don't remember reading much from rockdaman except one note suggesting BN offer a "rooted" nook. That's not very practical, but, in my opinion, but shows good intentions.
.
..I hope this is like middle school, as someone suggested, at the teacher's discretion, they are required to stand in the corner for an hour.

well in all fairness to Scion that Rockamondo or whatever his screen name was, was a Kindle troll. And that gets trying after a while esepcially in your own sub forum.

I didn't see Scion go over the kindle board and trash the kindle every which way till Sunday.

I have to agree. It's fine to prefer one device or company over another. However, when you go out of your way to go on the competition's message board to stir up trouble, under the guise of healthy discussion, that is wrong. No excuses.

I have more respect for everyone than to do that. If you own a device and want to gripe about it, fine. As long as you show respect to those that enjoy their devices, it's not a problem.

I don't go on the Kindle board and post "Does stripping the DRM from library books void your Warranty?"

In my humble opinion, the mods should look at how Rockdaman was obviously trying to be more disruptive than helpful by dissing the nook. Sure, he pretended to be benevolent, but you could see right through it without much critical thinking required.

This is sad news. I appreciate her willingness to help. She's definitely a plus.

Moderator, consider this a vote to "unsuspend" her. If she's out of line in 1 thread, consider how much help she provided in the other countless threads... She's not being paid and yet had contributed so much. Why would someone suspend her?
Anyway, she's what I read most when I visit this forum; else I hang around xda.

I essentially pointed out the same thing, citing a problem on two separate forums where we had people who did NOT own the device relating to a particular sub-forum who showed up only to make snide comments about the tablet to which the particular sub-forum was dedicated. In a thread that Scion started after all of this blew up I mentioned the above and also pointed out that according to his devices owned that he did NOT own a NC(or even classic) at all and hence should slink back to kindle clubhouse...
