No matter how stupid a question might seem, and no matter how tired we get of being trolled and/or spammed, being rude to people isn't going to help matters.
AMEN AMEN AMEN, and karma to you for speaking out. After reading a particular thread last night, I'm a little ashamed to refer anybody here for info now. What is this snarkiness the new year has brought?

Its not just you Betty. I tried to answer a warranty question over on the Nook forums and was accused of not actually being an attorney much less knowing what I was talking about. It seems like everyone is in a post-holiday funk, but this level of rudeness is just outlandish.

Maybe that IS it -- a post-holiday funk. I hope so. I know a lot of people are dealing with personal hardships and money problems right now, too.

where is the rudeness you guys are picking up on? in the kindle forums it seems that people fall all over each other trying to help new people that are asking questions. if there is a perception that some are being jumped on that
blaze in and do nothing but complain without asking how to fix something first a lot of times that is because the person HAS been around stirring the pot before.

Maybe, but they couldn't have been stirring it too long with only 4 or 5 posts under their belt. I don't know, it's just that I've been guilty of asking stupid questions/making stupid statements without thinking, and so far nobody has jumped on me like that. Well, not yet. This will probably do it.

Well, I didn't know what to make of it either. And I had a vent and rant as well not so long ago, but not about the same person Cherrybomb was referring to.
I asked a serious question on the Kindleforum and got some stupid answers, and was made a bit of a fool of. Well, it can happen and I'm a big girl.

But the week after that I noticed the same and another person giving bad, biased info to newbies, on the Kindleforum and even on the Introductionforum. They did it in a way I couldn't say something about it outright. That frustrated the hell out of me (is this good English?) and I vented and ranted about it in this thread.
Now I keep a close eye on these persons.

Normally I don't like to tell tales on who ever, but I thought it best to explain my vent and rant, while Cherrybomb quoted it. But too right she was to be mad.

It is good that on this thread someone can and may vent and rant and I applaud the starter of this thread for it.

there is a certain tone to some posts where it is obvious that these people have been around and done and said/asked the same thing before. a HUGE red flag is waved when the poster DEMANDS to have their mind changed about the device. I can't tell you how many times we have gone down that yellow brick road, and ask yourself, accidentally buying not one but three books???? that speaks volumes. these people are agenda driven and are trying to influence folks who are still in the decision making process

when that happens, let a mod you trust or even someone else that has thick skin know

that whole situation is more than extremely frustrating!

I wonder, too, if a newbie's username affects how we treat them. In addition the the negativeness of the first post -- or maybe because of it -- I notice that the username seems rather an unpleasant image. Which makes me wonder if the person came here just to cause trouble. Perhaps not, but it does affect my attitude as I read a post.
