That was an interesting read. I'd never seen a girl scout manual before.

Now THAT is the ratio that I remember. I guess shortening doesn't need to be so exact. I used to use Crisco butter flavored shortening if I didn't want to mess with butter. Tasted just about the same.

Try adding a half spoonful of vanilla extract, and a heaping tablespoon of sugar... I think you'll fall in love with the results. I did.

I chose not to use sugars in my biscuits. I was raised on soda biscuits and do not like any thing sweet in or on mine. I don't like alot of sweet breads. I usually stuff these suckers full of some kind of breakfasty thing.

As to your being forgiven, I suppose so. Then again, it reminds me of why i court women and not men - no issues with the toilet seat or urges to tar and feather.

I don't care for sweet breads, either, except for something like gingerbread. Biscuits, cornbread, and hush puppies are not supposed to be sweet!

We solved the toilet seat issue long ago. No up or down. We close the cover. Better luck in Feng Shui that way too.

Still doesn't stop my wife from laying in stocks of tar...

YES, YES, YES!!! I am having no luck convincing the people up here that cornbread is not meant to double as blueberry muffin mix.

I reject the word 'supposed.'
Reminds me too much of 'should have,' 'could have,' and 'would have.'

I stand by my wording. Certain things just shouldn't be allowed to happen. (Although you did cut me a LITTLE slack on the Celestial Seasonings issue. You still laughed at me, though. )

WHY am I still up? It's 1:30 a.m.!!

In the kitchen, anything is fair game. Tonight I used a regular head cabbage instead of a Chinese cabbage to make the Japanese dish 'Buta Kimchee.' (Pork cooked in kimchee.) The two cabbages have very different tastes and they cook down differently too. The result was quite different from traditional, but it tasted good. For food, that's what counts. I will, however, draw the line at putting pineapple on pizza.

Well, yeah... What would you expect. I mean, come on... Celestial Seasonings?

Looking for a good baked french fries recipe. I know one of you folks out there has one. I'm making sloppy joes for the big NFL play off weekend and decided home-makde fries would be a great pair to them.

Thoughts?

How about this one:

http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/baked-...ii/Detail.aspx

I haven't tried it, so I can't vouch for it, but it looks good. Then again, I'll eat cheese with anything.

Anyone have a good recipe for a kiwi dessert? My in-laws gave me a bunch of their home-grown kiwis and I don't know what to do with them.

I bake big russet potatoes with a nail in them, when they are done, let them cool, cut into long slices, stir with olive oil, smoked paprika, and sea salt, bake for about 10 minutes, then broil until browned they way you want
